Article marketing can be the single most effective way to get free traffic to your website or free promotion for you affiliate links. If you want to make the most out of your articles then once you have submitted them to directories you should do a little bit to promote them. Adding links from your squidoo lenses can be good, but my top tip is to submit them to niche social bookmarking website Article Bookmarks to increase their pagerank and generate traffic to them. You can also submit your squidoo lenses to the same site!
