Building a Niche Marketing Business
Ranked #16,398 in Internet, #535,759 overall
Deciding on your marketing niche is the first step in the system that I call Pure Profit.
"Niche Markeingt" Described
Your "Niche Market" is simply a definition of who your customer is.
Most Marketing leaders stress the importance of defining your niche because it is the most important part of your business plan.
Knowing who your customer is allows you to pinpoint your efforts to where they will be the most effective.
It would be utterly useless to expect that a 75 year old widow on a fixed income might be interested in investing in an IRA. It would be completely ridiculous to offer hair care products to a bald dude.
When you don't take the time to pinpoint who your customer is, there is no way to be sure you are focusing your advertising in the right place. You'll end up blasting your message to individuals who really don't want what you're peddling.
You must know your customer intimately. You've got to be in their head and know their thoughts. You have to know what problem it is that they are seeking resolution.

Using Free Tools to Find a Good Niche Market
Marketing 101 tells us that the two most important characteristics of a good niche market are:
1. People are looking for it. (High Demand)
2. They can't find it. (Low Supply)
Internet marketing isn't any different. When looking for a good niche market, look for something that has a lot of search activity but small number of search results. That makes sense, doesn't it?
I use Wordtracker's GTrends tool to find which keywords or phrases meet the criteria I want. Basically, I look for a keyword or phrase that brings in at least 100 visitors from the #1 position in Google but has fewer than 30,000 results in a Google search.
Words that meet this criteria are difficult to find but they do exist.
