What is a niche?
In relation to internet marketing, a definition of niche is a small area of a much larger market.
What is niche marketing? Niche marketing means narrowing your focus down to an area of selling which is more specialized and less competitive than mainstream products.
Selecting a niche market is one of the easier ways to develop an internet marketing business though it can be a challenge to find the right niche to promote since there are many niche markets to choose from.

First off you want to look at subjects or products that interest you. If you are knowledgeable about your subject you will be able to write enthusiastically about it.Here's an idea: look around each room of your home, not forgetting the garden and garage. What have you bought recently? What is your favorite item in the room? Doing this it should be possible to come up with a few niche ideas.

Here's my take: Just because you can define a super tight niche / vertical doesn't mean it's a good idea to build a business model around it. See this video for an example. It's almost like David and his investors now realize they made a mistake but it is too late. Maybe they can salvage something out of this, but in its current incarnation it's just too small and also has a misspelled domain name, which will cause navigation problems, with people winding up at tackle.com, which sells fishing tackle, of course.
