Writer

When I decided to officially embrace my love for writing was back when I received my first diary from my grandmother in 1984. She played a game at Kennywood Park, an amusement park located in Pittsburgh PA, in a place she called, "The Time." It was a building that had a large clock on the outside of it. The place existed for decades, but to date, is no longer there.

While sitting in front of a long wooden table grandma would roll a ball into holes that reminded you of a Tic Tac Toe board. If she got three balls in a row, she would get tickets for her wins. She could then take those tickets and turn them in for a prize. One night, after hours of playing, she won some things for her home like dishware. With the leftover tickets she asked me what I wanted. That's when I spotted the blue diary with a white girl's face on it with long brown hair. I said, "I want that!" I can't tell you how happy I was to write in that diary. I knew then that I wanted to write. One of the first things I wrote in that book was a poem. I was only nine years old back then.

After six years of college study, I have written everything from business letters to books. You can find some of my books on Amazon and Blurb.
These days I submit articles to websites and I also blog for sites like Squidoo. You can find some of my work throughout this site and others.

Poet

After years of writing poems and rarely reading any of them aloud to relatives and friends, I got the opportunity to stand before a large audience at a university around 15 years old. I read a poem that spoke about a poor child left abandoned in the dark that I had written myself. I remember the roar of applause. I must have done well. Later in life, I would sign up for talent shows to read more of my poems and compete in writing contests. I had also been asked to recite my poems by fellow poets. Since the invention of YouTube, I now read my poems on that website. Feel free to check me out at nmenterprise7.

Nicholl McGuire - Mother

I have a lot to say about being a mother! I have shared many of my good, bad and ugly experiences at a blog I entitled, "When Mothers Cry." Being a mom may look beautiful to some, but it is one of the hardest jobs in life. You sacrifice so much in the hopes that later in life that child who stretched your body, made you ill, and did whatever else to hurt you will say, "Thanks mom I love you." Blogger

When I began blogging in 2007, I didn't quite know what to expect. I mean I thought it would be simple enough to type your thoughts and connect with fellow bloggers. However, things started to get challenging when I learned of ways to make money with your blog. It turned out that rather than making a simple hobby of it, I became a workhorse around 2009. The sad part was, no matter how many things I did to improve my blog, there were search engines that were going to make some changes in their systems to set all of us bloggers back in our marketing efforts. These days I don't take marketing my blogs as seriously I use to. If you happen to see my work in the search engines, great. But if not, great too. I just love to write! You can check out some of my early work at the following blogs:

Desktop Publisher

This is one of many hats I wear sometimes. I got my first opportunity to show my skills in a classroom while attending college back in 1994. My first project was a simple flier. As I learned more and more about desktop publishing, I ended up thinking of ideas to also utilize some of my writings. It wouldn't be long that I would become editor of a poetry book and a newspaper for my college. Later, I created my own newsletter in 1997 entitled, "LightHouse 1795" in Pittsburgh PA.

Typist

When I needed additional money while attending college, I started typing for students and professionals. Although, I wasn't very fast, I delivered accurate and professional work that kept my clients satisfied. I was a mere 19 with a small one-woman business called, "McGuire's Professional Typing Services." Still, years later, sometimes my services are requested by relatives and friends. I also offer my services as a full-time contractor through temporary agencies.

The following are links to some of my work online, I write articles, reports, type forms, and design mini-web pages weekly:

Old High School Friends, College Buddies and Former Employees Say Hello!

I have reconnected with so many people on Facebook, Linked In, My Life and Classmates over the years. These are great places to get updated on who's doing what and why they didn't call you like, "How long ago?" Anyway, I'm on those sites. You know where to find me.

Ebay Seller

Back when eBay didn't have as many sellers as it does today, I was selling a little bit of everything from home. From baby socks to media, there was always a buyer. The year was 2001 and I actually did better on eBay then I ever did doing the typical work at home stuff like selling cosmetics, vitamin supplements or even phone service! Back then I accepted all forms of payment and rose quickly to a power seller.

Periodically, I do go back to eBay and sell (as well as buy) some items, but not like I use to. eBay is so popular now that it isn't as easy to sell everything you own like it was back in the day. The competition is fierce! There is alot of under cutting going on between mom and pop sellers. There are also corporations that are selling on eBay which was unheard of decades back. This makes it even more difficult for the small seller to really make a sustainable profit.
These days I don't sell as often as I once did. So like most people, I browse and periodically make a purchase.

Other Places You Will Find Me...

Bukisa
What I liked about this site was the layout and the ease to upload articles. In the past, you could upload audio recordings, but it was a pain because you had to also include dictation. When I first joined consistently received payment, since then the site reports errors in order to track payments. Not a lot of traffic compared to other sites.
Hub Pages
What drew me to this site was also the ease of use and the control you have over creating a mini-web page about your favorite subject matter. The readers and writers are in abundance.
Xomba
Xomba was a site I stumbled across after reading someone's comment about it. I gave it a go. It's okay, but as long as I have been on this site, never received a single dollar.
All Voices
This is one of the latest ones I joined. I didn't like the credibility bar below each article so I stopped submitting. All of my sources are legitimate and widely known. The fact that someone who just stumbles on your article or someone within the group who might not agree has power over whether you are deemed credible (when the evidence is right there) or not leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
