This is a wonderful lifelike hand painted and sculpted porcelain statue by Nico Venzo It is a porcelain sculpture of a woman. I believe this is one of Venzo's earlier works. It has the COA.
The front of this shows capodimonte backstamp, the signature of Nico Venzo and an abbreviated name of the factory where he created it which was called L Arte nel. Monte.
Born in 1938 in Caprese Italy Nico Venzo studied sculpture at the Academy of Venice. Today his pieces can be found in exhibitions around the world and a recent valuation of one of his smaller pieces on a web site I found recently stated its worth to be between $250 and $500.
In excellent condition I do not see any chips cracks crazing or repairs to it.
The Encyclopedia of Contemporary art said about Nico Venzo the following "Venzo's pieces repeat with modern sensitivity the movement and expressive strength of the sculptures of Donatello and Andrea Pisano".
Inside the pedestal it is written number 118. It measures 8 inches in height
