How To Get Rid Of Nicotine Stains On Your Teeth At Home

Ranked #529 in Healthy Living, #12,300 overall

Ahh...There's nothing quite like waking up, grabbing a hot cup of coffee and going outside for the first smoke of the day. Yes, to some that would be considered horrible, even wrong, but for me that's the way I like to start my morning.

Unfortunately, after quite a few years of this habit my teeth were beginning to see the effects. It happened gradually which is probably why I didn't notice sooner that my teeth were getting nicotine stained.

Getting My Teeth Whitened At The Dentist Will Cost How Much?

Well, I figured there were a few ways to go about getting the nicotine stains off of my teeth. The first thought that came to my mind was to get my teeth whitened by my dentist (not quit smoking and drinking coffee). I figure that's why they have teeth whitening products. Really, I'm just keeping the economy going... lol.

The thing with getting my teeth whitened at the dentist is that it would cost me about $500. That is a lot of money that could be better spent and to be honest, that was $500 dollars I simply didn't have.

The Methods I Tried To Remove Nicotine Stains On My Teeth

The next thing I looked into was getting at home whitening strips. So I went to Walmart and picked up some whitening strips. You know the ones that you wrap around your teeth so no one will no that they are on. Funny thing is, it turns out I have sensitive teeth.

Well, I didn't have sensitive teeth before I used the strips but they got really sensitive while I was using the strips.

I don't know about you, but having white teeth is just not worth jumping out of my skin every time I got something to drink.

Those whitening toothpastes and mouth rinses did not get me any better results. Now I'm not saying these things don't work, just that I am impatient. I don't want to wait a year to get rid of the nicotine stains on my teeth. When I decide I want something, I want quick results.

Through the wonderful world of "process of elimination", I found that I hadn't found anything to get my teeth white.

Using Hydrogen Peroixide And Baking Soda: Will It Remove Nicotine Stains FromTeeth?

What was my next plan of action?

Why, the internet of course!

So I found a paste to make with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. You mix the baking soda and peroxide together to make a paste like substance and then brush your teeth with it, then let it sit on your teeth for two minutes.

Sounds easy enough. So I start brushing my teeth and man alive this stuff tastes horrible but it's only for two minutes, I can do that. What I wasn't expecting was that it was going to burn, severely!

No where did I read that it was going to be a painful experience. I'm was feeling a little disgruntled when I get back on the internet but then by some miracle I found this website that has a teeth whitening kit.

Something That Actually Removed The Nicotine Stains From My Teeth For Free!

Teeth whitening tips is a new technology for teeth whitening. It uses Q-Tip type applicators filled with a liquid formula and a jar of teeth whitening powder.

Anyways, I figured that I might as well give it a try since it was free. The only thing I had to pay for was the shipping and handling and that was only $6.95. My hope was, that since it was a different technology then the strips, that it wouldn't make my teeth sensitive. Like I said, I had nothing to loose (except coffee and nicotine stains on my teeth).

Happily, I had no problems using the teeth whitening tips and the only thing I lost was the stains. Now I can sit back, enjoy my morning ritual, and have my white teeth while I'm at it. I love when I don't have to compromise!
