My Review
A great family movie with historical fun
Night at the Museum was the perfect antidote! And it was a great family movie without being totally hokey. Not only was it funny, it was actually slightly educational. We all laughed and came home talking about our favorite parts of the movie. I was surprised at some of the things that my kids recognized from history and it was fun to pick out my own ancient history knowledge.
I say slightly educational, since there are not a lot of facts in the movie, but we actually laughed about the characters after and then looked up some on the internet when we got home.
Some of the the funniest lines (and moves) of the movie come from Ben Stiller, but Robin Williams has some great lines too, especially when things get crazy at the museum.
I would recommend this movie for ages 7 and up. I am not sure if older teens would find it hip enough (that should date me). My kids are 12 and 15 and both laughed all the way through the movie.
Critics gave it a average or poor reviews, but I think it deserves better than this - especially if you are looking for a movie the whole family can enjoy. What do you think?
P.S. Stay through the credits if you want to see some smooth moves from Dick Van Dyke.
