Nikon D5000 Review

Nikon D5000 key features
12.3mp CMOS sensor
HD Video Capture (720p)
Vari-Angle LCD screen
Nikon D5000 shares a lot of the technology in the D90. Namely the same sensor and the ability to shoot high definition video as well. And of course it got the new screen so it really can shoot stills, movies and around corners. It has got this new vary angle view finder so you can actually rotate it by 90 degrees right or full 180 degrees left. When you put the view finder back to position it's idea for viewing if you tilt the camera high, or you can rotate the screen around for low as well. Not only that the D5000 also got a new Scene mode on the top on the camera, it now has 19 Scene modes. On the back of the camera if you select the Scene mode it will give you a sample image to give you an idea what different modes you've got there.

The Sensor

The sensor is the same sensor is in the D300 and D90. It has an ISO range from 200-3200 with a high one setting which is equivalent to 6200 ISO and the low one setting which is equivalent to 100 ISO. On top of that the camera shoots at 4 frames per second. It's using the Scene recognition so it fits in line with the rest of the Nikon range. And it also has picture control so you have complete control over the output of the camera.

The new vari-angle LCD screen

the new screen on the back also with the live view modes has four different focusing options. In live view modes someone is new in dslr photography that may actually come from a device compose image on the back of there screen, well this is the ideal device for that. The four modes allow you to do face detection, focus on a specific point,do wide area and also it has this new subject tracking mode as well.

The dust reduction system

The camera has the air flow technology that featured in D60.When the mirror moves it forces the air through the vents which captures the dust. The great thing about this is it's not actually costing any energy. It's using the mirror movement to naturally remove the dust from the mirror box. Every time the shutter is fired it removes the dust if there is any in the first place. The air flow technology is one component,we also have a vibrating low pass filter as part of the sensor assembly which will also removes any dust that does manage to make its way through.
