The Fine Art of Nina Kuriloff

I am an American artist living in New York City. I have been a professional painter for approximately 25 years.

During this time, my paintings have been exhibited in art galleries throughout the United States. They have been selected for exhibition in more than 20 juried shows.

Currently, I am selling artwork online and am enjoying the experience of being a self-representing artist.

In October, 2006, I had paintings included in a group exhibition, "Ultimate Destination," curated by Martina Batan (Ronald Feldman Fine Arts) at the d.u.m.b.o. arts center, Brooklyn, New York.

I have a passion for creating renditions of imaginary trees as well as female nudes and faces.

Why do I like to paint trees?

there are a few compelling reasons......

Full grown trees exude a feeling of strength!
Many trees have very long life spans, too.

So, for me, trees are symbolic of strength and solidity and stability, too!
They have a feeling of permanence about them.

Oops!
I didn't mention that so many of them are very, very beautiful. Some are very poetic!
It is their beauty, poetry and strength that are attractive to me.

I love to view photographs of trees as well as see trees in natural settings.
They consistently inspire me to paint!

I admire their ability to withstand changes in weather conditions.

Even in death they can be very beautiful!

My Drawings and Paintings of Female Nudes

stylized renditions......

My beginning renditions of female nudes were very realistic.

Now, for the most part, I create imaginary and stylized nudes.
I thoroughly enjoy working on my Zen Nude series, which consists of drawings and paintings of the rear view of seated women who have large derrieres.

I chose the name "Zen Nude" for this series because the earlier nudes that I created in this particular pose looked as though they were meditating.
