Ranked #1,496 in Volunteering, #221,091 overall

9,000,000 children are refugees right now.

There are 20.8 million refugees and other people in need of protection. Most of these people have fled persecution or conflict at some point in their lives.

You might not be able to change the world, but you can change the world for one refugee child. We can't do it without you.

How you can help:

   - $25 can send one refugee to school for a year.

   - $50 can provide a refurbished computer to a refugee school.

   - $275 trains one new refugee teacher for a community school or a community technology centre.

Whatever you give - $1 or $1000, will improve the lives of children in refugee camps around the world through education and sports programs.

Help them play, let them learn.

Who's behind Nine Million?

Ninemillion.org is being launched as part of World Refugee Day by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) with the support of founding campaign partners Nike, Inc. and Microsoft, both founding members of UNHCR's Council of Business Leaders, and Right To Play, the Toronto-based international humanitarian organization dedicated to using sport and play to foster the healthy physical, social and emotional development of children in refugee camps worldwide.

Nike has donated 40,000 balls, designed specifically for durability in harsh refugee camp conditions, to UNHCR for refugee kids. Microsoft is supporting ninemillion.org through MSN, its online media network, by hosting and localizing the Web site content in nine languages and providing 2.8 billion impressions of primary advertising media worth an estimated US$1 million.
