The Nintendo Wii console is a few years old now, but no one can deny how fun it is to pick up a remote and swing it around. The unique and simple controls make it easy for anyone (young or old) to get a hang of the games.
Sports games are one of the game genres that make full use of the Wii remote. It is interesting to be virtually playing a sport while watching the characters on screen mimic our gestures and motions.
If you're hooked on bowling, you will surely love to play bowling games on the Wii.
What are the advantages? You get to play at your own pace, you can practice your swing and hook at home, and best of all it's free!
This lens compiles a list of the best bowling games available on the Wii.

This lens compiles a list of the best bowling games available on the Wii.
1. Brunswick Pro Bowling
Brunswick Pro Bowling is one of the best bowling simulations for the Wii. It is so realistic that oil patterns will affect your line, and oil conditions change throughout the game. A main feature of the game is the Career mode, where you can build your character from an amateur bowler all the way to the big leagues. My favourite feature of this game is you get to purchase actual Brunswick balls to use in the game. I wonder if you are allowed to buy one of those balls with a skull embedded inside.
GameSpot rates this game 6 out of 10.
2. Wii Sports Bowling
Everyone should have a copy of this game, because all Wii consoles are shipped with a copy of Wii Sports. This is really my favourite game for several reasons. First of all, it's free because it came with the console. Second, it makes use of the cute Miis that I've already created for my family and friends. Third, it's a fun game (as opposed to being a realistic simulation). Fourth, I just love the mini-games that teach you how to throw spares, control the ball hook and trying to knock down up to 99 pins.
Serious bowlers may not agree with me, but this game can improve your bowling game because you can practice how to make spares and how your starting position can affect the path of the ball.
There is a newer version of this game called Wii Sports Resort bowling that is bundled with the Wii Motion Plus.
3. AMF Bowling World Lanes
AMF is another bowling brand that have released their own bowling game. This game is a follow up to their previous game, AMF Bowling Pinbusters. This game allows you to bowl in eight different AMF bowling alleys all around the world. Each location has a different theme, so you really get the feel of which country you are bowling in. Like Wii Sports, there are mini-games to entertain those of us who are tired of normal bowling games.
Unfortunately, this game has received many bad reviews. IGN rated this game 2.5 out of 10.
What? Just Three?
Unfortunately there aren't too many choices when it comes to bowling games on the Wii.
There really should be more, because many bowling fans including myself would gladly pay for an updated, more realistic bowling game.
Which of these games have you played? Which is your favorite?
