3D Handheld Gaming Is Only A Couple of Months Away!

The Nintendo 3DS is set to be released on March 27th, 2011 and this release should be as big as the when the original Nintendo DS was released.

The best thing about the Nintendo 3DS is that you will be able to enjoy 3D gaming on the go without wearing dorky glasses. The next best thing is it's backwards compatible, meaning all of your old games will not become obsolete.

Nintendo 3DS Features

I'm still one that plays games on my original DS Lite which I just had to have right away when it was released. The features of the Nintendo 3DS are enough to get me excited about picking up a new handheld gaming system.

3D play without the ugly glasses. This one is pretty obvious and the main feature.

Backwards compatibility with older Nintendo DS games. I am always happy to see this. I am not a fan of companies changing their format too often and then forcing their customers to buy all new games.

3D depth slider allows you to control how much 3D you are using.
SpotPass and StreetPass give you a deeper wireless experience. Exclusive content will be available and connecting with other Nintendo DS players will be even easier.

The new circle pad gives a true 3D gaming experience allowing for even easier movement in 3D worlds.

A built in motion sensor detects when the system is being titled or moved around. The system will detect this and move accordingly. I could see this as being a downfall if you are getting real intense and moving your system.

Charging cradle. No more having to reach down towards the floor to get to your DS charging plug. While charging the system can still communicate with the SpotPass wireless feature.

A 2GB is packed in with every system. You can store your pictures or music on this card. The system is also SDHC compatible as well.
Adjustable stylus. You can make it as long or as short as you like.

A pedometer when used in sleep mode. With the pedometer you can earn play coins that you can trade in for additional content.

A sound mixer which will allow you to change your favorite MP3 or Midi tracks.

Mii maker. No more working from memory to make your own Mii. You can upload a photo and make your Mii right on screen.

AR Games. This game detects a card that you place on your table or floor and the game unfolds right before your eyes.

Face Raiders. Take a picture of yourself, your friends or your enemies and then shoot away. A fun mindless game to pass the time.

Downloadable games. Download your favorite classic games and play them on the go. For us old school people, this could make the price worth it right off the bat.

Built in internet browser. No more special software to use the internet through your Nintendo DS on the go.
