Nissan NX Coupes and the 100NX

Ranked #26,107 in Cars, #1,331,652 overall

The Nissan NX - 2000NX, 1600NX, 100NX and NX coupe

The Nissan NX was known as the 2000NX and 1600NX in the U.S., and 100NX in Europe.
It was based on the standard Nissan Sentra (U.S.) or Nissan Sunny (Europe), and was available in 1.6 litre (1600) and 2.0 litre (2000) versions.
Initially launched in 1990 in North America and 1991 in Europe it features a carb engine until 1993 when a fuel injection model was introduced until the model was discontinued in 1996.

The NX Coupe was the Japanese version, with 1.5, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 engines.

It was available as a hard top or T-top, with the convertible version the most common in Europe.

I own a 1993 carb model and can vouch for the fact the carb tends to lead to increased fuel consumption and idling problems as it ages. There is a Weber replacement available, rather than replacing the standard unit.

In the UK around 5000 models were sold, but many have fallen prone to rust, particularly around the rear suspension turret mounts. If you're buying an NX, it's essential to check these to avoid the top of the suspension ending up in your boot.

On the bright side, the carb is the only fault with a typically bullet proof Japanese engine.
