Our Day at a New Jersey Balloon Festival

A couple of years ago, we had the pleasure of going to the annual hot air balloon festival held at Solbert Airport in Readington, New Jersey...the postal address for the airport is in Whitehouse, NJ. My husband was given a pair of tickets by his company, and we were spoiled with great parking, and free food and drinks. But even if you don't have VIP tickets, there is plenty of room to park, concession stands of all kinds, a great place for a family outing.
There are usually two mass balloon launches a day, at around 6:30 am and pm, weather and wind permitting. We went late in the morning, and stayed the day for the evening launch, but heard that the morning was a very special launch because the winds caused what they call an "Albequerque Circle". The balloons circled the area rather than just flying off into the sunset, or sunrise.
Hot Air Balloon enthusiasts know that Albequerque, NM has the best shows, and the way the air flows always causes the balloons to circle, which is where the term "Albequerque Circle" comes from.
