Unsolicited Ads

Recently I searched desperately for a way of how to block banner ads. Does the following look familiar to you?
You open your web browser and search for something and on top of the displayed page you are being hit with ugly weight-loss banner advertisements (and you are thin like a match stick) or an advertisement about finding your ideal partner (and you are married)!

If you are annoyed and sick of inappropriate advertisements then this site will guide you through the steps to gain a peaceful uncluttered surfing experience. You as the customer are the most important person and you should have some word to say about what you want to look at and at what not.

Many e-mail programs have a feature to block spam. Wouldn't it appropriate to block unsolicited ads too?

Some advertiser dream about "Behavioral Targeting" which is basically tracking the sites that the user is surfing and then presenting hopefully matching ads but this can go pretty wacky and bad as you can see on the following short video:

With FIREFOX, the easy way ...

If you are using Firefox as your web browser, you can get a free Ad-on that blocks advertisements on any page you surf.
That ad-on is called Adblock Plus
To install it, visit: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
Below is a short video that shows you the installation procedure of how you can get rid of unsolicited ads in Firefox:

If you are using Internet Explorer ...

For Internet Explorer 6, 7 or 8 you can use the free Adblocker
at http://simple-adblock.com/

If you are using Opera ...

Opera 9 and later has added a simple ad banner blocker.

And here is how to block specific ads: (can be an image, frame, or Flash animation), Right-click an empty spot on the page and choose Block content. Then, simply click the banners which you want to block. When finished, click Done.

If you are using GOOGLE Chrome ...

For GOOGLE Chrome exists also an Adblocker which can be found HERE

But if I am an Advertiser ...

There is actually still a possibility to advertise - however not exactly in the same way as one used to.
The ads which will be blocked by Adblocker software are contextual ads. By that I mean Adsense and Adwords and equivalent ads like banner ads.
Of course - if you are a site owner - you are interested in selling to the visitor, and if you advertise to the visitor something related to what he is looking for, the visitor will most likely not mind.
So - how do you place your CPA banner ad?
You need to upload the banner to your site and make it "clickable" - sending the visitor to the offer. This is called "anchor-tag" and is easy to do.

Using AdBlocker isn't fun. People who write free content (for example Squidoo lenses) can get a bit reward from ads. If everyone blocked ads, people who write free content wouldn't really get any money from their sites/lenses.

If you offer free, valuable information, shouldn't you get money for it? I think yes. That's why I don't use Adblocker.
