SAY NO TO DRUGS!!

At the same time, it is like illness has become big business. How many people are employed in the medical industry/profession? How many companies make their living off of the medical industry (profession)? Let's see - medical and drug researchers, drug manufacturers, drug distributors, laboratories, medical equipment manufacturers, hospitals, nursing homes, doctors, nurses, social workers, psychiatrists, drugstores, pharmacists....

I am not denying that there are physical conditions that benefit from medicines or surgeries. But, shouldn't we focus our attention on what causes the illness? Shouldn't we focus on health rather than on sickness? Wouldn't it be more productive to focus on CAUSES (prevention) instead of EFFECTS (symptoms)?

What would you do if the lawn in your backyard died every year while the lawn in your front yard was healthy? What would you do to handle it? Would you dig up the dead grass and re-sod your backyard every year or, would you find out WHAT IS CAUSING the grass to die and then correct that (change the soil, remove grubs, fix drainage, etc)?

DRUGS DESTROY MILLIONS OF LIVES EVERY YEAR.

An estimated 200 million people worldwide consume illegal drugs. The most disturbing aspect of this is that more and more young people are being introduced to drugs, and at an even earlier age.

The causes? Greed, cheap prices, endorsements, and million-dollar marketing campaigns. The production and sale of drugs (both legal and illegal) have become big business. Watched TV lately?

WITH ANY DRUG the amount taken determines the effect. A small amount acts as a stimulant. A greater amount acts as a sedative. A larger amount can kill. THIS IS TRUE OF ALL DRUGS.

RESIDUES FROM DRUGS and other toxins lodge in the body's fatty tissues and stay there, even years after they have been ingested, and can continue to affect the individual adversely long after the effect of the drug has "worn off".

DRUGS BLOCK OFF SENSATIONS - the desirable ones with the unwanted. Drugs might have short-term value in the handling of pain, but they also WIPE OUT ABILITY, ALERTNESS, AND CLOUD ONE'S THINKING.

This is a follow-up action to our successful fight to kill bill C-51. The Charter of Health Freedom is designed to be counter-legislation that gives people the right to choose how they are going to deal with their health.

It includes the right to refuse any treatment - which is a right psychiatric patients currently do not enjoy.
