Results of Palin -Biden Debate

CBS: Biden Won 2-1, Moved Almost Twice as Many Uncommitted

Sharyl Attkisson: Hey, Katie. Very telling numbers in this instant poll. Let's get right to the numbers, first of all, who won the debate? By a margin of more than two to one, 46% of our uncommitted voters thought Biden won, 21% Palin, 33% saw it as a tie. But more importantly, perhaps, how many of those uncommitted voters made up their mind as a result of the debate? 18% told us they are now committed to Obama. 10% now committed to McCain and 71% still uncommitted.

Palin Talks To The Press

Cafferty: Palin Should Scare the Hell Out of You

From the Cafferty File: There is a reason the McCain campaign keeps Governor Sarah Palin away from the press. This is a direct excerpt from Katie Courics One-On-One interview with Sarah Palin, which aired Wednesday on CBS. COURIC: Why isnt it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries? Instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess? PALIN: Ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up the economy Oh, its got to be about job creation too. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions. If McCain wins, this woman will be a 72-year- old heartbeat away from being president of the United States. Heres my question to you: Is Governor Sarah Palin qualified to be president? Interested to know which ones made it on air? Bit from Alabama writes: No, Jack. As Conservative Columnist Kathleen Parker states it: Only Palin can save McCain, her party, and the country she loves. She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn. No one would criticize a mother who puts her family first. Larry writes: No. But I feel sorry and embarrassed for Sarah. McCain has sucked her into an opportunity akin to a sub-prime mortgage situation on a house she cannot afford. Ron writes: Finally, someone in politics has appeared that can make G.W. look like an intellectual. Andrea from Malagash, Nova Scotia writes: As an American, living in Canada, I cannot agree with you more about Sarah Palins sorry, sorry, sorry interview with Katie Couric. The real question here is What was McCain thinking? Rachel writes: Absolutely not. McCain should be ashamed of himself for making such a joke out of the Presidential election. Palins interview with Katie Couric was the most pitiful thing Ive ever seen. If she really loves her country, she needs to dismiss herself from this election. It would just be the right thing to do. Tom writes: Sarah Palin makes Dan Quayle look like a genius. Laurie from Eau Claire, Wisconsin writes: No, but Saturday Night Live would sure appreciate it!

McCain-Palin Lies Exposed

Mccain/Palin: Lies, lies, and more lies

Politicians lie. They all do. The ones we have running all will lie, and if you're not choked with pure idealism you'll admit it. In fact, if you're jaded enough, you might even come to accept it, even respect it when it's done well. The concept isn't perplexing, especially when a deftly placed, glibly drawn half-truth can get yourself out of a dead-end argument. What is perplexing, however, are unnecessary lies. Silly falsehoods, said for no apparent reason, on topics that the world would have totally avoided had you not lied about it in the first place. One strange Sarah Palin falsehood, which she acclaimed as truth yesterday and the campaign reaffirmed tonight in video was that she successfully auctioned a private jet she deemed unnecessary for the State of Alaska to maintain on eBay. It's a strange falsehood because, in the first place, really, who cares? Moreover, it's bizarre because eBay founder Meg Whitman works for the McCain campaign! She's right there! In the building! And surely she can explain to Palin that she is getting that weird bit of biography wrong. Via Radar, the facts are these: After going unsold for months, the jet was put into the hands of Turbo North Aviation, an Anchorage aircraft broker, which put an asking price of $2.45 million on the nearly $2.7 million jet. It quickly sold to Alaska businessman Larry Reynolds for $2.1 million ($31,000 of which went to Turbo Aviation). Today the Westwind II jet spends its days ushering wealthy hunters around Alaska and Russia . So why on earth would Palin lie about this, knowing that it would bring scrutiny to this story, and knowing that the scrutiny would reveal that a) the auction wasn't successful, b) she lost the State of Alaska's money on the deal, and c) the state's valuable resource had basically become a luxury for wealthy elites? I have no idea! But whatever! It's definitely not the worst lie she's ever told. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/05/sarah-palins-strange-ebay_n_124097.html In assessing Palin's claim that "I told Congress, 'Thanks, but no thanks,' on that bridge to nowhere," PolitiFact.com reported: "By the time Palin pulled the plug on the Gravina bridge project in September 2007, much of the federal funding for the bridge had already been diverted to other transportation projects." It further stated that "[w]hen Palin says 'I told Congress, 'Thanks, but no thanks,' on that bridge to nowhere,' it implies Congress said, 'Here's a check for that bridge' and she responded, 'No thanks, that's wasteful spending; here's your money back.' That's not what happened. Fact is, Alaska took the bridge money, and then just spent it on other projects. Palin did make the final call to kill plans for the bridge, but by the time she did it was no longer a politically viable project." But while the media have reported that Palin is opposed to earmarks, Gov. Palin's administration has acknowledged it requested federal earmarks in 2008. Indeed, in a March 18 Juneau Empire op-ed, John Katz, Alaska's director of state-federal relations and special counsel to Palin, wrote that in 2008, the Palin administration "request[ed] 31 earmarks, down from 54 last year." Additionally, The Washington Post reported on September 2 that Palin also oversaw the procurement of federal earmarks while Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska: "Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin employed a lobbying firm to secure almost $27 million in federal earmarks for a town of 6,700 residents while she was its mayor, according to an analysis by an independent government watchdog group." http://mediamattersaction.org/palin_myths/

John McCain - Before Politics

John S. McCain was born on August 29, 1936 at Coco Solo Naval Air Station in the Panama Canal Zone, Panama to John S. McCain Jr. and Roberta Wright McCain. This simple fact should be enough to disqualify him from being the president of the United States, because, as it states in the Constitution, in order to be president, someone must have been born inside the United States, and John McCain was not.

Being in a military family, his family moved around alot. Altogether, John McCain attended about 20 different schools during his childhood. In 1951, his family settled in northern Virginia. It was at this time, that he attended Episcopal High School, a private preparatory boarding school in Alexandria, Virginia. He graduated from there in 1954.

John McCain then went on to the Naval Academy. He graduated in 1958. His class rank was number 894 out of the 899 in his graduating class. For his first 2 1/2 years in the navy, he was commissioned as an ensign and stationed at Pensacola, FL. While there, he earned a reputation as a partying man.

McCain completed flight school in 1960. He crashed two airplanes soon after, and once collided wtih power lines.

On July 3, 1965, he married Carol Shepp, a model originally from Philadelphia, and adopted her two young children Douglas and Andrew. Together, they had a daughter named Sidney. Soon after, McCain requested a combat assignment. He became a naval aviator flying ground attack missions from aircraft carriers in the Vietnam War.

On July 29, 1967 he was almost killed during a fire on the USS Forrestal. He escaped from his own burning jet, and was trying to help another pilot when a bomb exploded nearby, striking him in the legs and chest with fragments. After recovering, he volunteered for assignment on the USS Oriskany.

On October 26, 1967, his plane was shot down during a bombing mission over North Vietnam. He was badly injured. He was captured and became a prisoner of war. During this time, he underwent torture and once attempted suicide, though he was stopped by the guards. He was held from 1967 until 1973.

Upon his return to the U.S., he underwent treatment for his injuries, and had his flight status reinstated in 1974. In 1976, he became the commanding officer of a traning squadron stationed in Florida. It was during this time that he had several extramarital affairs. In 1977, he began serving as the Navy's liason to the U.S. Senate.

In April 1979, he met and began dating Cindy Lou Hensley, a teacher from Phoenix, Arizona whose father had founded a large beer distributorship. He urged his wife to grant him a divorce, which was finalized in April of 1980.

Once month later, on May 17, 1980, McCain married Cindy. His children refused to attend the wedding and did not reconcile with their father for many years. Upon their marriage, he and Cindy entered into a prenuptial agreement, agreeing to always keep finances separate and file separate tax returns. In 1981, McCain retired from the Navy and moved to Arizona.

After arriving in Phoenix, he went to work for his father-in-law's company Hensley & Co. as the Vice President of Public Relations.

New Cost of the War in Iraq

John McCain on the War In Iraq

The point is it's American casualties. We've go to get American's off the frontline, have the Iraqis as part of the strategy, take over more and more of the responsibilities, and then I don't think Americans are concerned if we're there for a hundred years or a thousand years or ten thousand years.

John McCain & Big Oil

Big Oil Fuels John McCain's Straight Talk Express

http://therealmccain.com/oil Gas prices are hitting all-time highs. Our country is in the midst of a recession thanks in part to our crippling dependence on oil, so what's John McCain's plan? Will he hold the corporate leaders of the energy industry accountable when he addresses them today in Houston? Probably not, considering they are some of his biggest fund-raisers. The Center for Responsive Politics finds that McCain has accepted over $1 million from the oil and gas industry. Many of McCain's top advisers have lobbied for big oil, which is why he now acts in their best interests, opposing environmental legislation and alternative energy plans. And that's exactly why we want everyone to know The REAL McCain. McCain is desperate to distance himself from President Bush. But according to the Center for American Progress Action Fund, McCain has received millions in donations from the same oil, coal, nuclear, chemical, utility, and auto companies that helped the Bush administration create its energy plan—a plan that has raised gasoline to $4 a gallon. Here's what you can do: Send this e-mail to ten of your friends, family members, and colleagues. Tell them to send it on to ten people they know. And don't forget to Digg it! Spread the word that McCain is taking major contributions from wealthy oil executives like Bob Mosbacher, just one of the special interest leaders he'll be addressing in Houston.

"It's a very hard struggle, particularly given the situation on the Iraq-Pakistan border.-John McCain"

McCain's Political Years

In 1982, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served two terms. In 1983, he adamantly opposed the creation of a federal holiday to honor Martin Luther King Jr.

In 1984, his daughter Meghan was born, followed in 1986 by his son Jack, and in 1988, his son James. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986, where he has served since.

In 1989, he was among the group of senators known as the "Keating Five". This group of senators, including John McCain, John Glenn, Alan Cranston, Dennis DeConcini, and Donald Riegle, were accused of corruption for their relationships with executives associated with the Lincoln Savings & Loan Association, including Charles Keating Jr. McCain accepted $112,000 in political contributions from Keating and his associates, and used Keating's jet for trips.

In 1991, Senators Cranston, DeConcini, and Riegle were convicted of ethics violations by the Senate Ethics Committee. Although he was not convicted, McCain was criticized by the committee for having exercised "poor judgement". This same year, he and Cindy adopted a 3 month old girl from Bangladesh, whom they named Bridget.

McCain ran for President along with George W. Bush in 2000. After a barrage of scandalous tactics were used against him in the South Carolina primary causing him to lose that contest, McCain said that there was a "special place in hell" for people like George W. Bush. Then, two months later, he endorsed Bush for President.

In 2002, along with Democratic Senator Russ Feingold, McCain's bill on campaign finance reform was finally signed into law, 8 years after it was proposed.

Since we first released The Real McCain a year ago, our REAL McCain series has garnered close to 2 million views, with over 13,000 comments and tens of thousands more in petition signatures! Clearly, John McCain's record is something the public wants to discuss, and yet the corporate media is doing NOTHING to present the truth. We feel obliged to continue countering the mainstream media's love of McCain. And so we thought it was high time for a sequel: The Real McCain 2.

Sarah Palin on Global Warming

"A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state because of our location. I'm not one though who would attribute it to being man-made."

Sarah Palin - Before Politics

Sarah Louise Heath was born February 11, 1964 in Sandpoint, Idaho to Sarah Heath and Charles R. Heath. The family moved to Alaska when she was an infant. As a child, she often went moose hunting with her father before school, and the family ran 5km and 10km races.

Sarah attended Wasilla High School in Wasilla, Alaska, where she was the head of the school's Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter, and point guard and captain of the school's basketball team. Her basketball days earned her the nickname Sarah "Barracuda". She admits to smoking marijuana during her time as a youth in Alaska, when it was decriminalized according to state law.

In 1984, she won the Miss Wasilla Pageant. That same year, she finished second in the Miss Alaska pageant, earning a college scholarship and winning the Miss Congeniality award.

Her first semester of college, Sarah attended Hawaii Pacific College, then, in 1983 she transferred to North Idaho College, and then to the University of Idaho. She attended Matanuska-Susitna College in Alaska for one term. Then, she returned to the University of Idaho to complete her Bachelor of Science degree in communication-journalism and graduated in 1987.

In 1988, she worked as a sports reporter for KTUU-TV in Anchorage, Alaska and also helped in her husband's family commercial fishing business.

The Argument For Palin?

I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight.....

If you grow up in Hawaii , raised by your grandparents, you're 'exotic, different.'

Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, a qui ntessential American story.
If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.

Name your kids Willow , Trig and Track, you're a maverick.

Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.

Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.

If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.

If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.

If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.

If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian.

If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.

If , while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant , you're very responsible.

If your wife is a Harvard graduate laywer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America 's.

If you're husband is nicknamed 'First Dude', with at least one DWI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska
from the USA , your family is extremely admirable.

OK, much clearer now.

Sarah Palin - Political Experience

Sarah Palin's political career began in 1992, when she ran for a three-year term on the Wasilla, Alaska (population 7,025) city council. She won and was reelected in 1995. In 1996, she ran for mayor of Wasilla, and defeated the incumbent John Stein.

In October of 1996, Palin asked the Wasilla police chief, librarian, public works director, and finance director to resign, and instituted a policy requiring department heads to get her approval before talking to reporters. Irl Stambaugh, the Wasilla police chief, and Mary Ellen Emmons, the town librarian, were informed by Palin in January 1997 that she was firing them for not fully supporting her administration. She had asked the librarian to ban some of the books from the library. An idea she did not follow through with, and later rescinded the firing of the librarian. The chief of police filed a lawsuit, which was dismissed by the court which claimed that the mayor had the right to fire anyone for any reason.

During her second term as mayor, Palin hired Robertson, Monagle, & Eastaugh, an Anchorage based lobbying firm, to lobby for federal earmarks for Wasilla. The effort, led by Steven Silver, a former chief of staff for Senator Ted Stevens, secured almost $27 million from the federal government.

Term limits in Wasilla prevented Palin from running for a third term as the mayor in 2002. Her husband's stepmother Faye Palin ran for the office against Dianne Keller. Palin endorsed Keller, and her stepmother-in-law lost the election.

That same year, Sarah Palin ran for lieutenant governor of Alaska. She lost the election. She was appointed to the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, which she chaired from 2003 to 2004. She resigned in January 2004 in protest for what she referred to as a lack of ethics of her fellow commissioners. From 2003 to June 2005, she served as one of the directors of "Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service Inc.", a 527 group designed to serve as a political boot camp.

In 2006, she ran for governor of Alaska, and defeated incumbent Governor Murkowski in the Republican primary. She was endorsed by Senator Ted Stevens. She won the election, becoming both the first female governor and the youngest Alaskan governor ever. She was also the first Alaskan governor to have been born after Alaska achieved U.S. statehood. Her inauguration was the first to be held outside of Juneau. She held the ceremony in Fairbanks and it was sponsored by BP.

She began work as the governor on December 4, 2006. She has stongly promoted drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and partnership with oil and gas companies wishing to do business in Alaska.

As a candidate for governor, Palin supported the "Bridge to Nowhere". She argued that it was essential to the local economy. After it gained national attention as a wasteful earmark, Palin stopped construction on the bridge, but kept the $326 million dollars Congress had given the state for the project.

Palin dismissed Walter Monegan, the Public Safety Commissioner, on July 11, 2008 citing performance related issues. Monegan claims that he was dismissed for refusing to fire her former brother-in-law, a state trooper. He said that the governor, her staff and her family had put inappropriate pressure on him to fire the former brother-in-law. This matter is currently under investigation by the Alaska Legislature. Palin has requested for the legislature to drop its investigation and review the case as an ethics complaint. They have thus far refused to do so. As of September 18, 2008, it was announced that Palin, her staff, and her husband will nothonor subpoenas to testify on this matter.

Sarah Palin on Oil

God made dinosaurs 4,000 years ago as ultimately flawed creatures, lizards of Satan really, so when they died and became petroleum products we, made in his perfect image, could use them in our pickup trucks, snow machines and fishing boats.
