Ringworm is An Invasive Enemy That Must Be Dealt With Swiftly!

"Ringworm" is a fungal skin infection that is commonly found in cats, dogs and contaminated soil.

It is highly contagious and can be passed from animals to humans as well as humans to animals!

Just saying the word is enough to send shivers down yer spine, isn't it? The most common reaction to ringworm is Y-U-K!

It's rather like a baby's dirty diaper... everyone is quick to point out that baby needs a diaper change; but no one wants to do it!

No one, that is... except for Mom. It's a job that comes with the territory of raising babies, and getting rid of ringworm falls into the same category.

Let's learn some more about this irritating condition, as well as where it comes from and how to get rid of ringworm!

Why Write About Getting Rid of Ringworm?

My daughter was very young when we experienced ringworm at our house.

There is pain and itching involved with ringworm, and it's a frightening thing for a young mom who has no ideas what it is... OR what to do about it!

The doctor's first question was
"Do you have cats in the house?"

It was a great relief to discover the cause of the problem, and learn more about how to get rid of that ringworm!

Legacy is about the knowledge and wisdom that you leave for your children, so I think it's important to write down the things that will make life easier for succeeding generations.

This is just one of those little tidbits of information that you can pass on to those who are raising the next round of babies at your house!

See Your Doctor For Ringworm Treatment Options

Diagnosing ringworm is best left to the professionals!

See your doctor if you suspect that you have ringworm. He will be able to run a culture, and prescribe the most effective treatment for the condition.

The most common treatment is topical ointments that are applied to the affected area over an extended period of time.
Ringworm is an invasive enemy that can be very deceptive in the healing process.

As the redness fades, you will be tempted to stop using the ointment prescribed by your doctor.

Because you are dealing with a fungus that thrives in the heat and dark, it's necessary to enforce long term treatment to ensure the complete eradication of the fungi.

It is usually recommended that you leave the affected area uncovered, since ringworm thrives in moist, dark and hot areas. Continue to use the prescribed ointment until it is gone; or you will discover that the ringworm will re-appear; and you will have to begin your treatment all over again!

Daily, persistent, intentional treatment is essential to the eradication of this painfully invasive fungus.

Tactics to Prevent the Further Spread of Ringworm

Because it is so highly contagious, use preventive measures to ensure that the fungus isn't spread any further than the area that is already infected.

* Apply ointments with cotton swabs

* Don't share towels that are used on the affected area

* Wash your hands frequently to prevent further spreading

* Keep the affected area clean, dry and uncovered. Although ringworm can be unsightly, they thrive in dark covered places, lengthening the time it takes to get rid of those nasty suckers!

* Continue the use of prescribed medications and ointments for the full course of treatment prescribed by your doctor

Excellent informational lens. Not a topic one likes to think about but necessary. I never had ringworm as a kid but neighbors did. My mother kept us away from them until they got better. Pretty scary as a kid because I didn't know what the problem was. Of course in my mind it was much, much worse. This lens would have helped my mother explain it to me better I think. Thanks for sharing this important information. Bear hugs, Frankie
