Nice boxes indeed. Since you are having one how much do they weight by themself? I took usually cloth bag to the stores, not 100% but in most cases. But still you could find many plastic bags in our home. Wondering where they came from... :-)

What a great Lense! We don't use plastic in cooking or food storage, glass containers jars and stainless steel are east to use and reuse. Many Blessings.

I love this lens. I've been interested in Bento for some time, though I haven't taken the plunge. I love all the containers. They are so creative! My oldest is 4 so I think maybe next year we can try it. She has to have everything she can open and take care of herself. Great info!

We are in the process of launching Biodegradable water bottles and Boxes which are 100% safe and Eco-friendly. Thanks for the valuable information.

Ah, a lens after my own heart! So glad to find this, and very well done. Love the video of the woman taking her tiffin into the taqueria.

I haven't had good luck with that. I've been told health codes don't permit us to bring our own reusable containers. As you can see, it slows down the kitchen staff, too, which I'm sure makes it easy for them to cite "health codes" or "management policy," as an excuse to refuse the containers.

Can you think of a good workaround for that--a way to show them they could save money by accepting reusable containers, for example? I haven't come up with a compelling reason to justify the trouble to the serving staff--yet!

I have a stack-able metal bento box from India and I love it. It's lightweight and holds more than you think it would! I make trail mix in one container, a sandwich in another and carry a piece of fruit for a healthy lunch.

I was stunned with that last fact that '80% of the world's oil goes to plastic production'! What are we doing! I've always gone pretty natural and like to stay away from plastic and I love your lunch containers, especially the stacking To Go's, it's just a better way! since I work at home, i don't have need to a lunch kit but what an earth loving gift item! Well done!

Now you have just made me feel so guilty - I am so ashamed to admit that this morning I did the unthinkable (particularly for a Mum who is trying to be green) and sent my girls to school with lunch in....plastic lunchboxes. I really must do better.

Excellent lens that has made me want to mend my ways - well done :)
  • alexkazam Sep 15, 2010 @ 5:06 am | delete

great lens. lets all be responsible in taking care of our planet by reducing or eliminating plastics in our daily activities.
  • HarmoniousAvenger Jul 12, 2010 @ 3:51 pm | delete
Plastics use oil. Steel uses eco-friendly coal ;-)

Seriously, the better reason to avoid plastic is to avoid those chemical thingies and to reduce litter. Global warming isn't the only environmental problem, nor is it even the biggest (yet).
  • callinsky Jul 5, 2010 @ 11:46 pm | delete
Oh my. This is such a wonderful lens. Thank you so much for sharing this information. Sometime we don't think about the eco footprints that these things -that we use dailiy- leave. We have become so far removed from the earth.
