Using velvet may seem like it would make the curtain feel weighed down and heavy but this is simply not the truth. You can create a great look for the fall by using dark color ribbon and one neutral color. You will need to purchase ribbon that is made from high quality material. These ribbons will make bows that will hang your curtain on the curtain rod.

Curtains are made to look personal. If you want to break free from the traditional look of straight plain panels then make your own. You can add iron on butterfly decals for a girls room, a southwestern design, tea cups or tea pot for the kitchen curtain and more. Don't just settle for what you can buy from the store and don't drag out that sewing machine. Grab some scissors, glue, and ribbon and get started.

If you find some fabric that you like then get enough to cover your windows and create a no-sew curtain that you can be proud of. You can match your curtains with area rugs that are the same color. Cotton rugs can make a room seem more bright and comfortable.
