This Christmas Story Is a Little Spooky
This story is a way to memorialize a friend of mine who passed away in October, 2007. Karyn Wyse was a Sufi as well as a pagan and participated in many sacred ceremonies mostly in Colorado and also in Florida.
I happened to be searching my hard drive for Christmas; looking for my address list yesterday and this funny story is what my search found. I think it is a happy way to remember Noor Karyn. I think it is a little spooky because this email is EIGHT years old and I have had SEVERAL computers during that time, some of which the hard drive completely crashed, and yet this one email survived the whole 8 year time span; kind of a miracle if you ask me.
I got a very clear message that since I received this just before the Christmas holiday and also about 52 days after her death (the Buddhists do shi-tro prayers for someone who passed for 49 days).
It just seems like she is saying to all people of this realm that we need to lighten up! Release her and get on with life. This is an example of how she lived her life and it touches me, I hope it brightens your holiday!
Also I would like this to be a place for people who wish to share other comical stories of Karyn, or even a sweet tender one, please share yours in the space way at the bottom of the page look for the empty box under guestbook.

Spooky e-mail because Karyn is no longer living.
The following is the email I received from Noor Karyn Wyse dated December 13, 1999 - located just today December 21, 2007 - Solstice and full moon!A Funny Christmas Story
I hope it brightens your holiday - it sure did mine!
As a joke, my brother used to hang a pair of panty hose over his
fireplace before Christmas. He said all he wanted was for Santa to fill
them.
What they say about Santa checking the list twice must be true because every
Christmas morning, although Jay's kids' stockings were overflowed, his poor
panty hose hung sadly empty and grew increasingly threadbare.
One year I decided to make his dream come true.
I put on sunglasses and a fake beard and went in search of
an inflatable love doll.
Of course, they don't sell those things at Wal-Mart. I had to go to an adult
bookstore downtown.
If you've never been in an X-rated store, don't go. You'll only confuse
yourself.
I was there almost three hours saying things like, "What does this
do?" "You're kidding me!" "Who owns that?" "Do you have their phone
number?"
Finally, I made it to the inflatable doll section.
I wanted to buy a standard, uncomplicated doll suitable for a night
of romance that could also substitute as a passenger in my car so I could use
the car pool lane during rush hour.
I'm not sure what a complicated doll is. Perhaps one that is subject to wild
mood shifts and using a French accent for no reason at all.
(That also describes a few ex-boyfriends.) Finding what I wanted was
difficult.
Love dolls come in many different models.
The top of the line, according to the side of the box, could do things
I'd only seen in a book on animal husbandry. I figured the "vibro-motion" was
a feature Jay could live without, so I settled for Lovable Louise.
She was at the bottom of the price scale.
To call Louise a "doll" took a huge leap of imagination.
On Christmas Eve, with the help of an old bicycle pump, Louise came to life.
My sister-in-law was in on the plan and cleverly left the front door key
hidden under the mat. In the wee morning hours, long after Santa had come
and gone, I snuck into the house and filled the dangling panty hose with
Louise's pliant legs and bottom.
I also ate some cookies and drank what remained of a glass of milk on
a nearby tray. Then I let myself out, went home, and giggled for a couple of
hours.
The next morning my brother called to say that Santa had been to his
house and left a present that had made him VERY happy but had left the dog
confused. He would bark, start to walk away, then come back and bark some
more.
I suggested he purchase an inflatable Lassie to set Rover straight.
We also agreed that Louise should remain in her panty hose so the rest of the
family could admire her when they came over for the traditional Christmas
dinner.
It seemed like a great idea, except that we forgot that Grandma and
and Grandpa would be there.
My grandmother noticed Louise the moment she walked in the door.
"What the hell is that?" she asked.
My brother quickly explained. "It's a doll."
"Who would play with something like that?" Granny snapped.
I had several candidates in mind, but kept my mouth shut.
"Where are her clothes?" Granny continued.
I hadn't seen any in the box, but I kept this information to myself.
"Boy, that turkey sure smells nice, Gran," Jay said, trying to steer
her into the dining room.
But Granny was relentless. "Why doesn't she have any teeth?"
Again, I could have answered, but why would I?
It was Christmas and no one wanted to ride in the back of the
ambulance saying, "Hang on Granny, Hang on!"
My grandfather, a delightful old man with poor eyesight, sidled up to
me and said," Hey, who's the naked gal by the fireplace?"
I told him she was Jay's friend.
A few minutes later I noticed Grandpa by the mantel, talking to
Louise. Not just talking, but actually flirting.
It was then that we realized this might be Grandpa's last Christmas
at home.
The dinner went well. We made the usual small talk about who had died, who
was dying, and who should be killed, when suddenly Louise made a noise that
sounded a lot like my father in the bathroom in the morning.
The she lurched from the panty hose, flew around the room twice, and fell in
a heap in front of the sofa.
The cat screamed, I passed cranberry sauce through my nose, and
Grandpa ran across the room, fell to his knees, and began administering mouth
to mouth resuscitation.
My brother wet his pants and Granny threw down her napkin, stomped out of the
room, and sat in the car.
It was indeed a Christmas to treasure and remember.
Later in my brother's garage, we conducted a thorough examination to decide
the cause of Louise's collapse.
We discovered that Louise had suffered from a hot ember to the back of her
right thigh.
Fortunately, thanks to a wonder drug called duct tape, we restored
her to perfect health.
Louise went on to star in several bachelor party movies.
I think Grandpa still calls her whenever he can get out of the house.
The End
A gift suggestion for your loved one.
Go With God Girl!
I thank Noor Karyn for this wonderful story and pray that she rests in peace. And so it is.
Personally this time of year I set my intentions for the coming one. So for 2012, since I don't have a hearth to hang a stocking on, I think I'll go out and purchase a pair of men's briefs and hang them on my window sill! Then I can pray for the universe to fill them in 2012. What a great idea. I am now inspired! Any takers?

Pagan Christmas
Pagan Christmas: The Plants, Spirits, and Rituals at the Origins of Yuletide
Amazon Price: $15.00 (as of 02/16/2012)![]()
Christian Ratsch and Claudia Muller-Ebeling show how the ancient meaning of the botanical elements of Christmas provides a unique view of the religion that existed in Europe before the introduction of Christianity. The fir tree was originally revered as the sacred World Tree in northern Europe. When the church was unable to drive the tree cult out of people's consciousness, it incorporated the fir tree by dedicating it to the Christ child. Father Christmas in his red-and-white suit, who flies through the sky in a sleigh drawn by reindeer, has his mythological roots in the shamanic reindeer-herding tribes of arctic Europe and Siberia. These northern shamans used the hallucinogenic fly agaric mushroom, which is red and white, to make their soul flights to the other world. Apples, which figure heavily in Christmas baking, are symbols of the sun god Apollo, so they find a natural place at winter solstice celebrations of the return of the sun. In fact, the authors contend that the emphasis of Christmas on green plants and the promise of the return of life in the dead of winter is just an adaptation of the pagan winter solstice celebration.

From Another Friend of Karyn's
I was a friend of Karyn's from the 9th grade up until she joined the One. We keep in touch and shared our families and children over all those years. I keep trying to print A Funny Christmas Story because it is so much like her and want to keep it in my file with all of her children's pictures and our letters, etc. Since she directed me onto a spiritual path before she joined the one this story is especially special to me. She and Gary and I all went to high school together and I have many wonderful memories of her. Since I can't get this story to print from your SQUIDOO site is there any way you could send it to my e-mail address so I can print it and keep it? I would be so grateful if that is possible. Harri Gaston (Gary and Karyn always called me Harri short for Harriet!)
Of course, I did send Harri the original e-mail from Karyn.

- OMG, the story was so funny, I could not help but to laugh (thank you for that). Your friend sounded beautiful with a wonderful sense of humor; something the world really needs right now. I lost a dear friend back in 2005 who I had been friends with for many, many years. Although I know she is where she wanted to be, it does not stop me from missing her dearly. Leaving you with a *Blessing*
