I own the Fallout Trilogy so you know I love this series. Fallout 3 delivers with it's sandbox gameplay and gripping storyline. The expansions add so much more depth too. 100+ hours later, I am still playing the damn game.. and loving every last minute.2 points

But SMB3 was truly a break-through installment in the series with all the new suits, amazing levels, and hidden areas/secrets. Turning into a statue to avoid enemy detection.. The first Assassin's Creed didn't really grip me like AC2 did. Ezio is a believable character with obvious weaknesses and maturity issues. As the game progresses, you feel more invested in his mission and Ezio clearly matures. You become Ezio and, suddenly, you don't want to stop being Ezio. Now THAT is compelling writing!1 point

Here's a franchise that has lost it's way a few times yet many of us can't help to indulge in more of the "old-hat gameplay". Mega Man created a formula that worked: beat up the robots, preferably in the right order, and use the acquired weapons to unlock new areas and exploit more enemy weaknesses. Few have been able to capture the magic of Mega Man since the original was released.1 point

iD Software pioneered a lot of what we're seeing today. John Cormack is THE MAN! DOOM was the first game I REALLY indulged in as an online multiplayer shooter. Many people talk about Quake but this game had the first massive collections of custom maps and complete mods. Batman or Aliens DOOM, anyone? HELL YEAH! If any of you ever played General Chaos or X-Com, Tegel's Mercenaries takes the mechanics of these games and combines them, years before General Chaos even released. The object of the game is to take on missions and hire mercenaries to expand your squads military power.. Then kick some butt. Just be mindful of civilians or letting your targets get away! While turn-based tactics games are not quite as popular these days, Laser Squad really pushed the bar high when it released back in the early 90s. Nowadays, people are spoiled by 3D graphics and real-time control but this game was about taking the mechanics of chess and adding a little ultra-violence to the mix. Laser Squad is nothing short of awesome. If you like the game, check out Operation Darkness, yet another under-valued game in the genre.0 points

Quite possibly my favorite Atari game of all time (though Missile Command, Dig Dug, Yar's Revenge, Centipede, and Space Invaders are all VERY close in preference), Asteroids is one of the few games I could sit down and play for hours with no breaks in between. I honestly like Sonic better than Mario nowadays. It's a shame today's Sonic games are less-than-stellar.. The original Sonic made me fall in love with the series. The soundtrack alone was AMAZING. This was a tough choice because I was tempted to put Sonic & Knuckles (Genesis) or Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast) here but the original started my Sonic love affair.. Quite possibly one of my favorite games EVER. I hope this game is re-released with polished graphics. The storyline is amazing and, at the time, the adventures spanned 4 discs (though mostly due to the Sega Saturn's lack of storage capacity). Any self-respecting RPG fan simply MUST play this game before they die!! Panzer Dragoon off the rails.. Total PWNAGE.0 points
