What, exactly, does "organic" gardening mean?

It basically means gardening without the use of synthetic (chemical) fertilizers or pesticides. You use compost and other organic products in your garden. You should choose plants, trees and greenery best suited to grow in your particular climate. Living organically has also become a movement to some people and they make it a complete way of life. Produce from an organic garden is thought to contain more nutrients and taste better.

What exactly is hydroponic gardening?

Hydroponic gardening is a really excellent way to garden economically, saving space, time and labor. You can grow vegetable, fruits, herbs and even flowers organically. Hydroponic gardening is a method of growing plants without using soil as the growing medium. Hydroponic gardens usually use a nutrient rich solution of water to supply plants with essential nutrients needed for growing. One of the main advantages of hydroponics is that you can grow indoors, which means you can enjoy crop yields year round instead of being dependent on spring or a particular plant growing season.

Sprouting

Sprout Gardening or Sprouting, is the process of growing and eating very young plants. For consumers who want to eat organically and locally, sprouts are the easiest "crop" to grow, and the one that requires the least space. Sprouts are fresh and fresh vegetables are the best to eat for nutrition and taste. Sprouts are great to eat alone or on a salad. Growing your own fresh sprouts is easy, inexpensive and fun to do.

I have not tried hydroponic gardening - maybe, I will try that this winter. I see from your list of books that Amazon even sells a book on the subject. This is a good lens. If you have time, check out my Organic Gardening How To Blog.

Some good information here for anyone who wants to make a start on organic gardening. I first saw hydroponics in action during a visit to the Epcot Centre at Disneyland Florida in 1987!!
