Nokia Xpress Music Cell Phone Review

The 5800 is Nokia's latest and greatest Xpress Music Phone, and as such it has some great features. Of course you have both an mp3 player and an mp3 player too, and access to downloads from the Nokia Music Store. The sensitive color touchscreen can be easily used with your fingers without needing a stylus, and there is a touch button a the top of the screen to bring up the media center for quick and easy access to you music and video. The operating system is the latest symbian S60 smartphone OS, and you get lots of free apps already installed on the phone including Nokia Maps. The stereo speakers are the best yet from Nokia, although obviously no cell phone has great speaker sound, and there is also a voice record function. The 3.15 MP, 2048x1536 pixel camera has Carl Zeiss optics, a dual LED flash and autofocus and it is a 3G enabled handset so you can make 2 way video calls. There is a fairly substantial 8GB of included memory, which is expandable up to 16GB with an SD card, and although it's not the slimmest of handsets it is still reasonably light at 109g.

The 5530 is actually very similar to the 5800 in many ways. Basically it is a budget version of the 5800. You still get the media center button and access downloads from Nokia Music Store, you still get a touchscreen, though it is slightly smaller and so that much harder to use with your fingers, and you still get the 3.15 MP, 2048x1536 pixel camera, only without the Carl Zeiss optics. And it does also run the S60 Symbian operating system. Overall although this is not quite as good as the 5800, but in terms of value for money it is far, far superior. Basically you get slightly less phone for a lot less money.

Once again there aren't a great many differences between this handset and the one above. Basically it is a reworking of the the 5530 to make it slimmer and lighter at 70 MB there is less memory and it runs a less sophisticated Symbian v9.4 operating system, but other than that it is pretty much the same phone.

If you prefer good old fashioned keys to the touchscreen of the above models then this is definitely the best of the bunch for you. Not only do you get the regular cell phone keypad underneath the screen on the front, but you also have a slide out full QWERTY keyboard which is great for typing - making this a good choice for anyone who not only loves their music, but also wants to be able to update social networking sites and / or send emails and so on from their cell phone. It has all of the music features of the 5800, but also has more entertainment options as it is compatible with N-Gage games, which the 5800 is not.

The 5130 has a less sophisticated camera at 2 MP and 1600x1200 pixels, but it does have 4 times zoom. This is very much a budget handset, but it does have good quality speakers and sound quality, voice commands and voice recording, video recording and playback, and like the 5530 it is excellent value, only at an even lower price.
