What is Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma

A cancer that is caused by being exposed to benzene is Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). This group of cancer starts in cells of the lymph system. They are characterized by the rate they progress. The less aggressive form can be chronic and the more aggressive form can be fatal.

In 1832, Thomas Hodgkin published the first description of lymphoma. The most common blood cancer is lymphoma and it is also the third most common in childhood. There are three additional types of lymphoma that have been defined by the non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Benzene, a constituent of petrochemical products, found in rubber, drugs and pesticides have been linked to Lymphoma. Lymphoma comes from lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell.
