Non-Petroleum Skin Care
Ranked #10,168 in Healthy Living, #167,000 overall
Non-petroleum skin care for dry skin, also appropriate for oxygen patients.
If you have dry skin, or if you are on oxygen therapy, petroleum based skin care is not for you. Using the recipes for dry skin provided below, you'll find you're more comfortable in your skin. If you have a problem with dry skin, or have dry skin due to the use of oxygen therapy, this may be the best way to go, since products on the market may be expensive. If you make them at home, make very small amounts and keep them refrigerated between uses, as they have no preservatives.
There are also those people who are not oxygen patients, but who prefer to use natural products, feeling they are better for their skin and the environment. The petroleum that goes into the production of skin care and cosmetics could be saved if more people opted for natural products.
If you prefer not having to fuss with making your own, you may find some of the products listed in this lens will help your skin feel better. Products containing petroleum or petroleum derivatives should never be used on the skin of an oxygen patient. Those of us with dry skin know it can be intensely uncomfortable. So what does someone who is an oxygen patient do to take care of their dry skin? It sometimes takes a little effort on the part of the oxygen user, because skin care, moisturizers, cosmetics, just about everything we use in this respect has a petroleum base. Non-petroleum products CAN be found if you put a little energy into it. I have listed a few products found on Amazon, and a lip moisturizer I personally use and highly recommend.

- I"ve thought about making my own, but I guess I just don't find the idea of it attractive. I'm a bit lazy when it comes to such things when I can buy things that work well already made. I use things that doctors have recommended to me.

- I may try some of these products. I do not like the idea of putting petroleum in or on my body. My skin reacts badly to a lot of skin-care products and I am thinking maybe these natural products would work better for me.

- We too often forget how important is skin for overall health. It really makes a difference what kind of product we use. Knowledge is power and it starts with small letters readings!

- I had no idea. Thanks for giving us an alternative. I guess I just never paid much attention to what they made the skin creams from.
