I saw the 48 show last night for the first time. I agree, I think the mother and stepfather were very wierd. A stuck pig screams the loudest and that is just what the stepfather's comments sounded like, guilty and in hiding. It would not be the first time that an abused young girl was abused again by another man she looked up to in her life. He would have a lot to hide if she threatened to expose him.

I thought the stepfather's (and her mother's, for that matter) reason for taking Nona's cell phone was very disturbing. "I'm a cheapskate...ask anyone....I took the phone and started using it right away....I started to take her numbers out and put mine in." What the hell is that? This was his response to NBC Dateline's reporter when asked why he wanted the cell phone from the police. Someone he supposedly loved like a daughter had just been beaten to death, and he was worried about getting her cell phone back because it was still active, and he could use it? That makes me absolutely sick to my stomach. Why haven't investigators looked at him as a potential person of interest? I don't understand, and I really feel like they are potentially letting him get away with murder. I understand innocent until proven guilty, but I think this warrants some looking into. If he did it, I hope it haunts him every single night in his nightmares. I hope justice is found for Nona. What a tragic ending for a beautiful girl......

Just watched 48 hours and my skin crawled when the step father spoke. I don't believe his story about the cell phone. I am cheap too but I would never use my murdered child cell phone. I think her mother is suspicious too. After all, she didn't prevent her molestation by her father . I realize she can't be blamed but it's her attitude that bothers me. Maybe she felt like her daughter had stolen her men's attention twice and is in denial. It may have been the only time the stepfather had sex with her and he realized she wouldn't keep silent this time. I think he pushed for Kevin to be blamed to take attention off him. Also, what story did the stepfather tell to get his hands on the phone. He must have pushed someone to pull it off, The first thing I would have done as a parent was look at the history in the phone. Also, Kevin said they didn't use condoms. Whoever attacked her was trying to hide their identity. Kevin's fingerprints weren't on the wrapper so I don't believe he ever saw it. If he had seen it and confronted her, he would have surely put it in her face. It may have been that Dunn wanted something to happen that wasn't carried out although that doesn't explain his DNA on the wrapper. It definitely wasn't Kevin. Also as the mother of 3 sons, I can see my how his mom could have been with him when he discovered her.

I don't think Gary Dunn did it. A rapest does not wear condom guys! I think Kevin Johns did it. Did anyone see him hit his chair so hard in the investgation room while he was alone? In my opinion, he contaminated the murder scene intentionally. Good for him he got aquitted.

I feel very sorry for all those involved especially for Kevin Jones...I felt the mother and stepfather of Nona were rather wierd...who would ever think of using the cell phone so soon after her death..not to mention cancelling all her contacts...to me they would always be special, including the cell phone that she used all the time, saving money on a cell phone would not be a priority. Very strange.
