We All Have A Connection To A Certain Charitable Cause
I thought it would be interesting to find out what is your favorite non profit cause.
The one that you really feel a deep connection to.
I must say that my favorite charity of all the ones out there, without hesitation is "Partners In Health" which Dr.Paul Farmer co-funded decades ago. Dr.Farmer and his "Partners In Health" clinic are doing spectacular work in Haiti.
Which is yours?

Partners In Health Is My Favorite Charity
PIH was founded in 1987, two years after the Clinique Bon Sauveur was set up in Cange, Haiti, to deliver health care to the residents of the mountainous Central Plateau. PIH co-founders had been working in the area for years. The Clinic was just the first of an arc of successful projects designed to address the health care needs of the residents of the poorest area in Haiti. In the 20 years since then, PIH has expanded its operations to eight other sites in Haiti and nine additional countries and has launched a number of other initiatives.

The Giraffe Heroes Project
People who stick their necks out for the common good.

The Giraffe Project is a national nonprofit organization, registered with the IRS as a 501(c)(3), incorporated in New York, with a staff of six in offices on an island north of Seattle, and trainers located across the US. The Giraffe Board & Staff are here.
Why giraffes?
Because they work with the motto "Stick your neck out," because they make people smile and look again, because they're a great way to sneak up on you with a serious message.
What's your mission?
To foster the citizen courage and know-how that are essential to a just, ethical and compassionate world. We achieve that by finding and commending real heroes, by creating and delivering Giraffe workshops, books & speeches, curricula & trainings for schools, a database of heroes around the world, OpEds, blogs, & a monthly e-zine, Heads Up. (A delightful fallout of the honoring-heroes process is finding how inspired the Giraffes themselves often are, telling us that being acknowledged has given them the boost they need to keep going.)
SPECIAL NEWS
Californian Margaret Trost from "What If Foundation" has been reconized as a
Newly Honored Giraffe.
Quite an honor. Congratulations Margaret on a well deserved reward.

An Angel In Queens, New York
Please meet Jorge Munoz and his family from New York city.
Since 2004 ,they have provided more than 70,000 meals to the hungry in the evening so they won't go to bed starving.
They do it all on their own with a little help from some decent folks who give a few dollars and clothes.
Jorge has been selected in the 10 finalists of CNN Heroes and I gave him my vote with all my heart.
Excellent Video to see Jorge in action

- There is a new charity I want to mention. Kenbe La Foundation - to help with getting the children of Haiti a decent education after the 2010 earthquake. Far too many schools were destroyed in the earthquake. One woman lost her husband and 2 of her daughters in the eathquake. The 3rd daughter survived. Now this women (widow) is wanting to help the children of Haiti. So she created a new charity - called Purple Cake day. See my new lens, called Purple Cake Day.

- Do I have to choose just one? Dolly Parton's Imagination Library puts about 750,000 books into the hands of children every month... many of whom live in the poorest areas of the US. Columbia Second Chance is my favorite local no kill animal shelter. Planned Parenthood provides free medical exams to women who can not afford even basic medical care....

- Brian Tracy's quote is all too true. The best gift I ever got was the look of hope in someone's eyes when they believed me they were 'gonna be okay.' That's better than money.
