If you're impressed with Nook Tablet's specs and really want to buy one, but live outside of US, there are some things you need to be aware of before placing an order!
Nook Tablet was designed with US-based users in mind, and it shows every step of the way. As as an international user you might be disappointed with the product you receive.
Most of the problems faced by international Nook Tablet users can be overcome easily enough, but you need to both be aware and be prepared!

Nook Tablet International Use Challenges
As an international user, this is what you're up against:
- 1Nook Tablet won't let you download free content unless you have a US billing address. It won't let you buy any paid content unless you have a US based IP address.
- 2Some of the apps intended for movies, like Netflix and Hulu won't let you buy content (even after you downloaded the app) because you don't live in US.
- 3When you'll want to charge your device, you'll realize it only comes with an American charger. It's really a small thing, but you need to have an adapter on hand.
- 4Unlike iPhone and iPad, Nook Tablet only comes with an English keyboard. There's no way to type in any other language.

If you're thinking of going the eBay route, consider these options that offer worldwide shipping:
Buying Nook Tablet from Barnes & Noble
If you're thinking to buy Nook Tablet from B&N and ship it abroad, be advised that it's not as easy as it sounds.
Problem is, Barnes & Noble sell Nook Tablet only in US. So if you want to buy it, you need a US based address. You can obtain it from a number of mail forwarding services, for a fee.
I can recommend Shipito as a reliable mail forwarding service, having shipped several items through them myself (though not a NookTab). They give you a shipping address in US, receive the package for you and forward it to your international location.
Installing Free Apps on Nook Tablet
Just a minor complication
When I first got my Nook Tablet, I had no problem downloading and installing free apps. However, this is no longer the case.
Currently Nook Tablet won't allow you to download even free apps, unless you have a US based billing address on record.
Luckily, this problem is easily solved. I now use the shipping address provided by Shipito (a mail forwarding service) as my billing address, and downloading free apps is not a problem any more! Of course, you can use any valid US address, even invent one yourself.
Buying Paid Apps on Nook Tablet
This is where it gets hairy (but there's a solution!)
Want to buy apps on your Nook Tablet? If you're international or out of United States territory for any reason, Barnes & Noble can't sell them to you.
Even having a US based billing address won't help. Soon after making a purchase, be it an app, book or magazine, you're bound to receive the following email:
We are reaching out to you about your recent order, XXXXXXX.
We are sorry, but your order did not pass our order verification process and we are unable to continue to fulfill your order. We assure you that you were not charged for any portion of this order.
We want to let you know that if your order contained a Barnes & Noble NOOK Book or NOOK Apps, these items can only be purchased by customers physically located in the United States and Canada.
If you have any questions regarding this order please email us at Authorizations@barnesandnoble.com or call 1-877-379-0036 Mon-Fri between the hours of 8:00AM - 11:00PM EST, Saturdays and Sundays 9:00AM - 11PM. If you are calling from outside the United States, you can reach us at 1-201-559-3885.
In fact, you'll receive this message even if you are a US citizen with US credit card, but just happen to be abroad at the moment. B&N check your IP address, and if it doesn't show as US based - you can't buy any content.
The solution to this is to artificially change your IP to an American one, by using a proxy or VPN service. If you're unsure about how to proceed with this, Google it to find the best method for you.

Rooting Nook Tablet Could be the Solution to Our Problems
Rooting your Nook Tablet (installing full featured Android instead of the crippled B&N version) can be the solution for international users. You'll get full access to Android Market and be able to enjoy a greater variety of apps and far less restrictions.
Why do I mention rooting only now? Because Nook Tablet is a fairly new device and I don't find the existing root options safe enough to use on my own device. I don't want to ruin it.
