Around the area
Things to see and do
Whatever your interests, we can be pretty sure that you won't be bored during your visit! St Ives, and Cornwall in general, caters for anyone and everyone.St Ives is perhaps best known as a haven for artists. Surrounded on three sides by the sea, the quality of light in and around St Ives has drawn painters and sketchers for generations. Many have fallen in love with the town, as evidenced by the numerous small galleries to be found in st Ives' narrow streets.
Key artistic attractions in the town are the Barbara Hepworth Museum, Leach Pottery and Tate St Ives all of which are popular with both general visitors and artists.
From St Ives you can enjoy some fine coastal walks, heading either north or south. By car the B3306 heading towards and past Zennor offers some stunning coastal driving.
Penwith, the area south of St ives towards Lands end has some fine historic sites, monuments and standing stones. The ancient buildings at Chysauster and Carn Euny offer glimpses of human habitation in the region going back to ancient times.
Nearby family attractions include Lands End, the Scillonian or Heliport (for a trip to the Scillies,)Flambards theme park and the National Maritime Museum, Cornwall.
Access to Newquay, surf capital of the UK is straightforward as is getting to Truro for some retail herapy.
