What a wonderful question!
Like many others, I've decided to create a lens for the sole purpose of allowing others to take a glimpse into my personal world!
You may ask why I use the phrase personal world as opposed to personal life and the reason is this: my life means nothing without my family and friends; it means nothing without my hobbies, interests, and passions.
As for the question Who is Norma Budden, you can learn more about me by checking the links I've provided below. However, I assure you, you will see merely a glimpse of who I am. After all, unless you take a step into my mind, body and soul - into my life itself - you can only imagine ... and that's what makes life so beautiful!
Take an adventure! Take a step into my world!

Something to think about...
Because life surely is interesting
From one moment to another, you don't know what you will encounter, and that's what makes life so interesting! There are times you want to be gentle as a dove or as peaceful as a lamb. Albeit, during other times, you want to growl like a tiger, or roar like a lion, depending on what gets thrown your way.
Nonetheless, life is made up of a series of actions and reactions; how you react to a situation, today, can influence how you will feel tomorrow!

Nothing quite like sitting beside a fire
Dedicated to Owen Foss
The man I intend to marry
I wrote this poem for Owen a short while ago and, even now, it fills my heart with thanksgiving, knowing I've found where I belong; I've found "home."Perfect Man
Perfection's over-rated;
There's no way to improve
I couldn't imagine living
In such an awful groove.
But thinking of a perfect man
Is quite another matter.
It conjures up loving thoughts;
My heart - it doesn't shatter.
At long last, I've met this man;
He's perfect, or so it seems.
Though he claims to have his faults
I believe he's from my dreams.
He holds my bags when shopping
And waits patiently for me.
He rubs my aching shoulders
Then sits me on his knee.
He wraps his arms around me
When we go for walks at night.
He tells me that he loves me,
That everything's now right.
He looks into my troubled soul
And watches when tears fall.
He doesn't judge for yesterday;
Instead, he hears me when I call.
He stares into my open eyes -
Those windows to my soul.
He sees how much I love him;
It's then he becomes whole.

Emotional Impact
Amazon Price: $20.50 (as of 12/17/2009)![]()
This book is about a woman, Erica, who lost her husband to a fatal heart-attack. Being left to raise their young son alone, she faced many obstacles, especially since she couldn't seem to move past her grief.
A few years later, a couple of things happened at the same time:
- she learned her best friend, Scott, was beginning to fall in love with her - a man who had been like a second father to her son.
- she met a man, Brad, whose wife disappeared without a trace and discovered she felt a strong attraction to him.
*************************************************************************
Emotional Impact is about facing challenges presented to us despite the obstacles standing in our way. It's about finding peace when facity adversity, sharing moments of laughter in the midst of sorrow, and seeing a light where only darkness reigned. Above all, Emotional Impact proves that, when love abounds, love will find a way.

Norma's Poetry

Poetry is more than just a collection of words; it is the lifeblood of a writer who feels the need to send a message to others in a few words, in a medium where no music is required. In no way am I putting down the works of people who write non-fict...
Twinkling Lights
The last night we stayed there, with curtains wide open, I looked through the windows. I saw lights on in various offices and saw vehicles going to and fro.
I began to wonder what was going on in the lives of the people I was watching, while they didn't know I existed. Of course, I wouldn't recognize them, not having seen them up close, and having watched them under the cover of darkness. Yet, I wondered about them - about the lives they led.
It spurred me to write this poem and I thought I would share it with you.
Twinkling Lights
Twinkling lights of the city
while darkness shines its face.
What's happening in the streets -
are they filled with hate, or grace?
The cars I now see driving by -
what's happening inside?
Do the people love each other
or does someone feel denied?
Offices aglow everywhere-
the lives many people lead.
Do they love to always work
or does home meet no need?
Twinkling lights of the city.
So much we do not know.
Let us not be quick to judge
so good seeds we can sow.

People who have inspired me
My truest friends
Once in a while, we meet people who make a wonderful impact upon our lives; these people come in all shapes and sizes, all genders, from all walks of life. We don't necessarily prefer one over another but, instead, share special relationships with all of them.These are some of the people whom I would like to pay tribute to, people who've enhanced my life in one way or another:
Nan Nichol
Pictured to the right is a photo of my maternal grandmother, Winnie Nichol, whom I consider one of the greatest people in my life. She has enriched my life in so many areas that I can probably write a book in trying to convey just how much she means to me. However, a few words here shall have to suffice.
Nan's home was open to everyone; family, friends, and strangers. Anyone who was in need knew where they could go to find a night's rest or a warm meal. The clock was never a firm dictator, unless it was time for church services or the convenience store was about to close.
Never one to judge me, regardless of what I shared with her about my thoughts and feelings, she endeared herself to me even further as I grew older. Even when she may not have agreed with every decision I had made, she always made it seem she was on my side.
If there is one regret, it's that we did not have an opportunity to travel together. She loved hearing about the places I visited and always wished she had been younger so she could have traveled to some of those places with me. Her eyes lit up at the stories I told and I could see her mind spinning, trying to imagine the places and experiences I spoke of.
Now, she is advancing in years and her memory isn't what it used to be, which brings a level of sorrow into my heart. However, I can only hang on to the memories we did share and treasure them for what they are: memories of wonderful times shared with a person I love deeply.

Mama Lewis

Mama Lewis Can I call you by any other name? Personally, no, I don't feel I can but, for those of you who may wish to know of whom I'm speaking, Mama Lewis is none other than Bernice Branford Lewis of Baltimore, Maryland.
Mama, you've been a great source of inspiration to me since I've known you and words can never convey just how much you mean to me. You're my champion, my cheerleader, my confidante, and so much more. I love you and can't wait until I can wrap my arms around you.
Finding Tracey
Finding Tracey: The Journey Home: Part One
Amazon Price: $21.19 (as of 12/17/2009)![]()
Finding Tracey has potential to bring hope and healing to the hearts of many. Though it's a work of fiction, it deals with issues such as romance, grief and child abuse; however, Finding Tracey also brings forth the blessings people enjoy every day, which sometimes get forgotten when stress seems to be ever-present.
Juergen Seim

Juergen, considering the time span of my life, I haven't known you long but, in the time I have known you, a few things have stood out to me: your love for your family and the loyalty you feel toward the select few you call friends.
Regardless of whether we communicate daily or only have the opportunity to touch base once in a while, knowing you are part of my life enhances each day and gives me another reason to smile. I am grateful to have you in my life and I feel honored that you have indeed bestowed upon me the title of a friend.

Ahmad L. Gomaa
Ahmad, you are far too busy...you have overextended yourself in your obligations and responsibilities...but, regardless, you remain a dear friend even if I have to guess, at times, what you are up to.You make me laugh...you're a great listener...you're a great poet and critic of my poetry...and, ultimately, a great friend who has a special place in my heart.
Rebecca Brown - Amell

Becky, first of all, the only thing I can say is THANKS....thanks for coming back into my life, that is!
Admittedly, we're both busy. We both have jobs and families demanding our time and attention. However, knowing you are only an e-mail or phone call away mean so much to me.
I remember the days of our youth when we used to stay outside until our toes were frozen, only to come inside and warm them on the heater. I could never get enough time with you then and, though I wouldn't trade my current life, I would love to be able to physically spend time with you again.
When the time comes that we do see each other again, you'll receive the greatest hug you've received in a long time - but be prepared because I may never want to let go.
I love you, Becky - always have, always will.
