Normal Eating

Are you sick of dieting? Is your whole life about weight loss and diets? Try normal eating, and get off the treadmill for good.  Rest assured, everyone can become a normal eater, regardless of how far off the track you are.

Normal eating is also known as intuitive eating or non-dieting. Its premise is that the human  body is naturally wired to take proper care of itself, including seeking a right weight, without forcing upon it any regimens or food restrictions.

Proponents of normal eating believe that when dieters struggle, it's not because of lack of will power but rather, it's because they are trying to eat unnaturally.

The hunger and fullness method is the pedestal upon which normal eating is built. When an individual learns to discover his own hunger signals, he can learn to put off eating until those signals make themselves apparent.

Likewise, when the individual is nearing fullness, his body will send signals telling him to slow down, push his food around more, and then taper off entirely from chewing.

It may be hard for you to believe if you've been dieting a long time, or if you have an eating disorder, but you can learn this method of eating. Your body really doesn't want the excess weight. But this is a cooperative endeavor with your body, rather than the harsher diet edicts that it's been rebelling against, perhaps for years.

Linda Moran teaches normal eating through her Diet Survivors resources. Her free offerings include a topical directory of articles, blog meditations, a Yahoo! message board, and newsletters. She also has a book called "How to Survive Your Diet," which is available on amazon.com

But that's not all. Linda Moran would like you to find recovery wherever you can get it. There are other experts and resources as well. See below for materials that will further your understanding of normal eating.
