Given the history of North Korea and the events of the recent past North America and the world has, once again, been forced to sit up and take notice of this communist country many of us know little about.

A Brief History

In school we were never taught very much world history outside WWI & WWII. I wanted to include in this lense a little bit of historical information about North Korea incase you, like me, didn't learn about it in school.

Undercover Video Footage

"Life in North Korea"

A citizen of North Korea shot this footage and smuggled it over the China border so the world can see how they really live. He had no idea life in NK was so different until he got a glimpse of the outside world.

International Newslinks on North Korea

The first video is an MSNBC report on the North Korean missile testing.

The second video is a North Korean diplomat's response to the nuclear testing that recently took place. Apparently NK still feels that America is a major threat to their security.

Nuclear Showdown: North Korea Takes On the World

Chang begins with a familiar portrait of North Korea under Kim Il Sung and his son, Kim Jong Il. In describing the son, Chang unfortunately repeats several unverifiable rumors about his odd tastes, but he still shows conclusively that he is a dangerously ruthless and power-worshipping tyrant. Chang also asserts convincingly that North Korea's nuclear ambitions extend far beyond the possession of a few weapons for their deterrent effect. He suggests that they will soon present an existential threat to our Asian allies and to ourselves. His solutions to the impasse may strike some as premature, but they will have to be considered if the situation deteriorates. -Booklist
