What You Need to Know Before Having Your Nose Job

Patients who are good candidates for nose jobs are generally in good health. They do not have serious emotional problems and are not expecting unrealistic results.

Before visiting your plastic surgeon for the first time, you need to know exactly what you want. A good tip is to write down a description of the way you want your nose to look. Take pictures of noses you like with you so you can show him visually.

Give your surgeon your complete medical history, especially any conditions affecting your nose.
For example, has your nose ever been injured? When and how did the injury happen?
Do you have allergies or breathing difficulties?
Tell him if you smoke, are diabetic, have poor circulation, or if there is a history of blood clots in your family.
Always give him a list of all medications you may be taking.

Primary Open Rhinoplasty

Cost- $3,152- $6,500

A primary open rhinoplasty or nose job, is your first nose surgery . You have never had any work done on your nose before.

A secondary open rhinoplasty is when you have already had nose surgery on an earlier occasion.

The open rhinoplasty is done with a small incision between the nostrils on the underside of the nose.

Your final scar will be almost invisible after your nose has completely healed.

Primary Closed Rhinoplasty

Cost $2,879-$5,800

A primary closed rhinoplasty is your first nose job and it is performed without any incisions on the outside of your nose.

It is also referred to as an endonasal rhinoplasty.
If you have had a closed rhinoplasty before, your nose job will be called a secondary closed rhinoplasty.

The advantage here is that there will be no visible scaring.
This makes closed rhinoplasty very popular with patients, although you should really consider what your doctor recommends to get the results you want.
