This is Not the Life I Ordered

This book "This is Not the Life I Ordered" has been sitting in my "to read" pile for several months now, waiting to move and inspire me.

With this week's Giant Squid Challenge to review the next book you are going to read and encourage your friends to read along, I went and pulled this one out of the pile. It looks like a shot of inspiration that I need right now.

This is Not the Life I Ordered, published in 2007 by Conari Press, is an inspiring work by four women who have faced a variety of challenges.

These four women have experienced a wide range of life challenges. According to the book cover between these women they have experienced:

Six marriages
Ten children
Four stepchildren
Six dogs
Two miscarriages
Two cats
One failed adoption
Being a foster parent

In addition one of the authors was shot and left for dead in South America and two of the author's have lived through the death of their spouses.

In this book these brave women describe their friendship for more than a decade. These women believe it was "the power and strength of their collective friendship" that enabled them to not only survive but to thrive.
