They Look Nothing Like Something You'd Poop In

Cloth Diapers have changed. They have changed so much from the original flat diaper and pre-fold diaper, its sometimes difficult to know if its a diaper or a cute pair of pants. Diaper covers are so fashionable and funky, its almost a shame to cover them up with a pair of pants. Any colour, pattern or configuration of both is just a custom order away in today's savvy baby accessory market.

Did you know you can knit up beautiful wool diaper covers that are the healthiest choice for wet proofing your cloth diaper? Follow this Lense to find out whats up in the Diaper World today. Like the title says, these are nothing like the cloth diapers your Granny's used.

COLOUR!

Who doesn't want to sport Flashy Pants?

Take a look at these diapers true works of art. I remember when they first hit the market, about 15 or so years ago. Back then it was WAHM's who spearheaded the new movement and incorporated design into the diapers. No longer were mums buying simple white pre-fold diapers, they were bidding on Ebay auctions to snatch up the latest design and one of a kind diaper, one diaper at a time so as to grow an eclectic collection of unique cloth diapers for their baby's hiney. HoneyBoy diapers could fetch $200+ dollars for just "1" diapers, yup I said ONE diaper.

Velcro Be Gone!

Snap DiaperWith the new pre-fitted design of cloth diapers, fasteners became all the rage. Velcro and Aplix ruled the pre-fitted diaper world, until the Snap Press was imported from China and brought into the homes of WHAM's making cloth diapers. White snaps ruled the day, until colours hit the fashion scene. Velcro had seen it's day, it's not completely gone from the cloth diaper world, it still has its place, but for the most part Snaps are in!

Pocket Diapers

Pocket DiaperCan you believe their is patent on the pocket diaper? You can just sew up a diaper anymore, stuff it with a pre-fold or liner and sell it from your home. The pocket diaper has been around for such a long time, I still think it's impossible to discern who was the true inverter was. In the early 2000's internet diaper wars became common, pitting larger cloth diaper companies against work at home moms, sewing diapers for their small internet business.

Pocket diapers are simple to use, simply stuff a liner or pre-fold diaper in through the top of a diaper made for this purpose, and Voila! You have a supremely absorbent diaper ready to go.

One Size Fit Em' All

Thirsties Duo Wrap SnapOne Size Diapers are very attractive to parents because they reduce the number of cloth diapers needed therefore reducing the cost maing them more economical. If a one size diaper lasts from 7 - 15+ Lbs, then you might not need that toddler size, and often you can just move into Learning Pants aka Training Pants.

My favourite one size diapers were a simple unbleached flannel with the fold down front that used snaps to hold the diaper together. There are several version of this diaper available, as plain as day and as bright and bold as a box of crayons.

No, I did want to but didn't have the funds to buy them like that, Even though they are cheaper in the long never mind. It is something I would consider next time.

To prevent the landfills from over flowing with disposable diapers responsible parents should only use cloth diapers. They are so much nicer these days than the ones I used on my kids way back when. Rinsing diapers is not the most pleasant task, but chock it up to just one of those parts of being a parent and making sacrifices for your child and the planet.

Hi! I have used cloth diapers for my sons. My second son had a reaction to them, so he didn't get to use them long, but I used them for a long time with my first son. My daughter is 4 months old and I haven't started her with them yet. I have a million size 2 diapers that I'll probably use up before I start her on cloth.

The only thing I didn't like about the big square diapers I used, was the rinsing before the washing. But you know, they sure have their place and are hugely cheaper!
