Here's what I think about.....

MTV's - PARENTAL CONTROL!
Yesterday I was introduced to a particularly entertaining as well as interesting program. At first, I was a little reluctant to watch it but as I sat down and began to absorb the show into my mind I instantly became hooked.

The premise of this show is the parents set the son or daughter up on two hand-picked blind dates. Okay, no big deal right? The reason behind these set-ups is that the parents are doing this in an effort to lure their son or daughter from the undesirable boyfriend or girlfriend that they do not like in the hopes that they will find someone more suited for them. While the son or daughter goes on their dates, the boyfriend or girlfriend sits in the living room with the parents watching the dates unfold.

This shows language isn't exactly the best but they do bleep it out. The behavior on the part of the potential ex-boyfriend/girlfriend is downright disrespectful. And the parents, WOW, the true disdain that radiates from them is surprisingly funny. After about the third episode of watching this show, I began to think HOLY CRAP because the girls picked the current boyfriend every time. I found that discouraging but I remember what its like to be young and "in love" so honestly it was of no surprise to me. Around the 4th episode of this marathon fiesta of hilarity, finally someone picked one of the people they had dated. It really is a good show and if you ever have the opportunity, I suggest watching it!
The Locator on the WE Channel!
I stayed up way too late and did not get to sleep until 2 a.m. this morning. The reason behind this that is different than my usual bouts with restlessness is that I became enthralled with a TV program, the title of this program is The Locator on the WE channel.

The premise of this program is...In 1990, Troy helped his own mother (who was adopted as a baby) locate her own biological family. That single event caused Troy and his then-partner to build an organization that did one thing- help people reunite with long lost friends and family members.

This program has a personal significance for me and those who know us instantly know why I was drawn to this show. For those of you who don't know us, lets just say that it was a rough 12 years for us concerning my husband's other two kids (young adults now) from his previous marriage. Every day, for all those years, we hoped and prayed that one day they would seek the truth and find us. In April of this year because of the grace of a mutual friend of ourselves and my husband's oldest daughter we were finally blessed with the opportunities to be reunited with them. We love them both so very much and thank and praise God everyday for giving us the strength to never give up hope that one day we would be reunited. Having them back in our lives is a true blessing for us...and mere words just cannot express how much it means to us!!!

Another reason for my being drawn to this television program is that my mother, to this day does not know the identity of her biological father. There is an entire side of me and my geneology that I have no inkling about and although I have lacked nothing by not knowing, there has always been this sense of wonder and curiosity. I've long given up trying to find out any information because it seems people are either close-lipped or just flat out oblivious which leads me to believe that there are some questions better left unanswered as far as that aspect of who I am.

I, myself, have helped others in similar circumstances. There are some people out there who have desperately yearned to be reunited and want the truth to be known and to be given a chance. Those instances lead to those involved being fortunate enough to experience a very positive life altering reunion. There are, however, unfortunate instances where a person did not find what they were hoping to. There are some people who are selfish, inconsiderate and show no remorse for the things they have done, who are unmindful of the people they have hurt and who suffer no regret and take NO responsibility and deny the children they've left behind! Disheartening but a hard reality!

I strongly recommend if you can, please watch The Locator . Whether you are going through a similar situation, know someone in a similar situation or you simply want a program to watch that brings about feelings for thankfulness for your own life, this is definitely a show to watch!

God Bless!
Brett Favre - Debut As A Jet
In a society where experience is overshadowed by youth, especially in the sports industry it is fabulous to see a player such as Brett Favre, who although deemed an "old timer" by career standards, still active and loving the game.

Although it is difficult for me to truly grasp the significance of a move from one team (I mean it happens all the time) to another other than notoriety and validation purposes, I can honestly say that based on what I have read, this is a very important move for Mr. Favre and the New York Jets as well. I love the game and have followed many player's careers, although not extensively but enough to know that being that Brett Favre has 18 years in NFL experience, I am really excited to see what changes, if any, will occur as he plays QB for this already formidable team.

Interesting fact: Did you know he is also an actor? He played a bit part in the movie Something About Mary with Cameron Diaz and Ben Stiller!
Talula Does the Hula From Hawaii
Okay, I am all for originality and uniqueness when it comes to naming a child but this totally tears it! In New Zealand a judge placed a nine year old child as a ward of the court in order for this young girl to have her name changed, kudos to him!! Talula I can see, especially if it were a family name, but the unnecessary use of the proceeding "names" is an absolute outrage and truly shows a clear lack of judgment on the part of her parents! What they may have deemed, cute or funny is actually a cause for emotional trauma for this child. In today's society some children are cruel and down right mean, why in the world would any parent want to provide even more verbal ammunition to these types of children? Disheartening indeed....

My father once gave me some really sound advice when I asked about naming my children. He said "Name the adult..not the child"

Hair Conditioner As A Shaving Aide??
I knew that would get your attention. One evening about a couple of weeks ago I was perusing the internet for topics for this lens and decided to research odd facts and "out of norm" uses for different products. An interesting tip I found was instead of shower gels or shaving cream to shave my legs it was suggested to use hair conditioner. At first I thought this was a little bit ridiculous but never being one to shy away from trying something different I tried it. My fear, naturally, was that I would cut myself but as I began to apply the conditioner it immediately became evident that it was equal to the consistency of shower gel it just did not have the lathering effect. Due to the lack of lathering I had to pay careful attention to where I had been and was going to go with the razor which I believe allowed me to give a more thorough shave. I was amazed at the ease in which the razor glided on the skin on my legs and the silky smoothness left behind by this unique tip. I must tell you that I will never use shower gels or shaving creams again! I use a moderately expensive hair conditioner and in no way wanted to use it for this so I went out and bought a cheaper conditioner for this purpose, why spend around $4.00 for a shaving gel when I can buy a bottle conditioner for $1.00 to $2.00 which is higher in volume and receive better results....The link provided will take you to more of a "forum" in which they discuss this technique and one woman also suggested hand/body cream...I may try this as well but I am pretty satisfied with the hair conditioner results so it may be some time before I do so.
Terre Haute, IN Man Jailed After Allegedly Robbing Lemonade Stand
The above mentioned story is a local story from my area about a young man who robbed some young 11 to 12 year old children/entrepreneurs of the money they earned while selling lemonade in the city of Terre Haute, IN. My thought...These kids are already displaying more work ethic in their tender young ages than most adults. What really aggrevates me is he is basically saying he was "told" to take the money and that he was very sorry. First of all, it takes a low life individual to cohearse someone to steal from children and it takes a coward to follow through. Secondly, he is by law a man..so trying to defend his actions by saying he was told to do it is childish in itself..not to mention, asinine and simply a means to try to justify being a complete MORON! Kudos to the little girl who chased after him, although a very dangerous thing to do. She, again, showed more courage than some adults!
