A Child's Story of Selfless Love
Notes Left Behind is a heartbreaking, loving compilation of drawings and notes written by six-year-old Elena Desserich to her family during her struggle to fight a rare form of pediatric brain cancer. Elena secretly hid the messages around her home for her family to find after she was gone.
When Elena was diagnosed her parents were told that she had only 135 days to live. They wanted to create a remembrance book for Elena's younger sister, Gracie. The pages of Notes Left Behind are filled with candid photos and excerpts from their journal entries along with Elena's handwritten love notes to her family.
Elena lost her battle with cancer 255 days after being diagnosed, but she left her family a selfless gift. The family found the first note in her bookcase just days after her death and has continued to be comforted and surprised by her secret messages even 2 years later.
This book is filled with love and reminders of how special the moments we have with our own children really are. Each day is a gift to be treasured!

- I got shivers just reading the intro. Then as I listened to the parents and watched them, of course the tears came. As a parent I always fear something will take away my only child and the light from my life. Nicely done. ~ Blessed by a Squid Angel ~
