I do not count calories. I do however read the nutritional label. If it is high in calories or sugar it is not something you want on your diet for busy people.
I do not fill up on empty calories (liquids). 3500 calories equals one pound whether it is ten candy bars or five two-liters of coke. Did you read between the lines? Most people could switch to a zero calorie soft drink and lose one pound a month with out changing anything else.
My added fats intake is cut in half simply by using half as much butter I use on my bread, toast, muffins and potatoes. I use half the usual amount of spreads like mayonnaise or sauce on my salad. I use half the oil in the fry pan every time.
