Time to Get Involved for American Diabetes Month

Time to Get Involved for American Diabetes Month® This November 2011

On November 1, the American Diabetes Association is asking individuals to take a pledge and raise their hand to Stop Diabetes® on Facebook.

With nearly 26 million children and adults in America living with diabetes, and another 79 million at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes, the disease is taking a devastating physical, emotional and financial toll in the United States.

Yet, most Americans don't consider diabetes a serious matter. They feel it is someone else's responsibility; someone else's problem.

Diabetes kills more people each year than AIDS and breast cancer combined!

Recent estimates project that as many as 1 in 3 American adults will have diabetes in 2050 unless we take steps to Stop Diabetes.

Now is the time to act.

I liked your lens. My nephew is Type 1, aged 8. I can't believe how ignorant his teacher and school administrators are, not to mention the students. Thanks for spreading the word. My lenses donate to the JDRF, if I ever make any money of course :)

    Victoria,

What you just shared is an important reason to correctly educate others about diabetes, no matter the age group.

It shocks me that teachers do not research information to get a better understanding on important health matters. Especially when it comes to the health of a child.

    To Your Success,

    Stacie Walker
