The truth is, most people won't understand why we have to spend over $200 on such a small gadget. But we know better.
I mean just think about it, it supports sampling rates up to 48kHz, 24-bits of resolution and a 10-20kHz frequency. Not only that but it uses its own audio converter in order to increase the audio quality of your devide. And if you want to use speakers, you can do that too with its digital / analog RCAs.
Personally I find it awesome and I bought a second one as a Christmas gift for my brother who is as a crazy audiophille like me.

One of the things I found right away cool is that it's perfect for portable audio. This means that you can take it with you anywhere, to an office, on the road. Not much similar AMPs can offer the same portability. As I travel a lot, this has already peaked my curiosity before I actually bought it.
As a matter of fact, the Icon iDo is perfect for:
Musicians If you are a hobbyist musician, you can use your iPad to make music. Actually this is true even if you are a professional musician. And this is where the iDo comes into play: it lets you listen to your music in pure high quality audio. If you only use a small power adapter, you can still have it portable without a problem.
Office emploees This is another area that Nuforce has thought of when creating its amp. The fact is that most people are working in office cubicles all day long, sometimes more than 8 hours a day. Lately there have been many restrictions put on employees using their work computers or laptops for personal reasons.
So now they can listen to their Apple device with headphones that have a great quality simply for hours. This avoids the so-called "listening fatigue" syndrome. And since a better enjoyment can increase the mood of a person, usually the work output can become higher as well.

Nuforce Icon iDo - How Does It Work?
The way the Nuforce Icon iDo works is by extracting the digital audio data from your Apple device (iPod, iPad or iPhone) and giving you a high quality, low-jitter, audiophile worthy CD quality sound.
Nuforce realized that the Apple has captured the music market for the masses and there was a need for better sound quality - output for these devices. And this is exactly what the iDo delivers.
While the Apple audio codec delivers good quality, it is restricted by the DAC which can be found in the actual device. The iDo bypasses the DAC and offers instead a much higher output which is truly lossless and low-jitter, which you can't really obtain otherwise.
How To Connect The Nuforce Icon iDo To your Apple Device
All you do is connect your favorite Apple mobile device (e.g. your iPod's dock connector) to the iDo AMP using the 30-pin sync/charging cable, then simply plug it it to the power supply and plug the iDo to your stereo system using the RCA cables. You can also use a coax cable instead.
Of course if you want, you can plug it in directly to your headphones (when working in an office or want to use your device as truly portable).
As this bypasses the Apple mobile device's DAC and you'll be amazed by the crisp clear quality of the sound.
