What Is Numismatic Coins?
The word "numismatic" means the study and collecting of money.
numismatic coins are legal tender coins that are sought after by collectors.
Graded numismatic coins like the MS70 Silver American Eagle (shown on left).
is just one of those coins that collectors seek. The obverse (face) of the 2010 Silver Eagle Dollar features Adolph A. Weinman's famous "Walking Liberty". The reverse depicts a heraldic eagle and the United States Government's guarantee that the coin contains "1 Oz. Fine Silver" and the face value of "One Dollar." The Silver Eagle is minted in one ounce of .9993 pure silver.
Please don't confuse the MS70 (MS= Mint State) with it's bullion counterpart. A Silver Bullion coin will always be worth only the spot price of Silver, plus a little more for being in the form of a coin.. At the time of this writing the spot price of silver $21.780,therefore a Silver Eagle bullion coin worth around $25 or so. Now take the MS70 American Silver Eagle like the one in the photo, graded by ANACS (one of the top coin grading companies) and you are talking about a value of between $99 and $135.

Making The Grade-Only The Best Numismatic Coins
'Graded' silver and gold coins are not ordinary, they are special. The value of these collectible coins is based not only on their precious metal content, but also on rarity, collector demand, and their actual condition. The fact that they are certified and graded by recognized experts makes these numismatic coins more valuable and desirable than ordinary, ungraded silver or gold bullion type coins. The global standard for grading a coin's condition is called the Sheldon Scale and grades range from 1 to 70, with 70 being the highest grade possible indicating a flawless coin in perfect numismatic condition. As you can see by the comparison above the jump in value from MS69 to MS70 is significant. The reason is the MS69 is not perfect. The grader found something wrong with the coin that did not qualify it as a Perfect Flawless Coin. You can also see that if you had in your possession a 1997 MS70 American Silver Eagle.. it's worth right around $500.
Coins are sent to a grading company such as ANACS, PCGS or NCG and they estimate about 1-9% of them will come back as Mint State 70 or MS-70. Ms-70's carry a premium silver dollar coin value that is even greater then their MS-69's counterpart. .
One Of My Favorite Numismatic Coins - The 2010 Chinese Silver Panda
Yes the 2010 Chinese Silver Panda is one of my favorite numismatic coins, if not The Favorite coin, that I have the pleasure of owning in my collection. I also own the 2009 and can't wait for the 2011. The Chinese Silver Panda coins display unique, fresh designs each year keeping their popularity always high amongst enthusiastic collectors. The 2010 coin features two Pandas playfully enjoying a bamboo field. The design on the reverse of the coin, which stays the same each year, displays the "Temple Of Heaven"Struck in one Troy ounce of 99.9% fine silver, each coin is a large 40mm.
2010 MS70 DCAM Australian Kookaburra Numismatic Coin
The Kookaburra is probably the best know bird of Australia. In indigenous to Australia, these birds are famous for their unmistakable call, which sounds uncannily like loud, echoing human laughter, good-matured, if rather hysterical, merriment in the case of the Laughing Kookaburra, the largest member of the Kingfisher family.
The Perth Mint is recognized throughout the world for their superior quality, superb artistry and Government guarantee of weight and purity, these magnificent pure silver numismatic coins are welcome annually by both investors and collectors.
These coins have a superior quality finish which incorporates delicate, proof-like frosting within the central design. The Australian Kookaburra Silver Coins were first issued in 1990 and have been featuring a new design of the laughing Kookaburra annually ever since.
The reverse design features a laughing kookaburra perched on a large brand facing to the right. Over the bird are the words 'Australian Kookaburra', while underneath is '2010' the coins size, and '999Silver.' Since the design of this series changes each year, its collectability is further enhanced.
Surrounding the Ian Rank-Broadley image of Queen Elizabeth 11 on the obverse is 'Elizabeth 11,' 'Australia' and tyhe'1 Dollar' denomination of the coin
Under most circumstances, the pure silver Kookaburra can be difficult for collectors to locate due to their high popularity, much less in pristine MS70 condition.

Purchasing Silver Eagles in This Economy? Numismatic Coins For Sure!
With the government circulating more and more money each day, and the multiplied belief in the decline of the US currency and also the Euro, should you purchase silver eagles right now. Why should you even consider purchasing silver at all right now. Since the dawn of currency, anytime a government has diluted the power of their currency by printing in excessive amounts when the currency is not backed by assets such as, gold, silver or real estate that currency has crashed and at the same time increase the value of silver, gold and other assets.I wonder if like past countries that have experienced a breakdown in their currency system, that those that have real tangible assets, such as numismatic coins, silver, gold and/or real estate will be the ones that do very well. There are many indicators that say that silver is a great investment.
2011 Canadian Timber Wolf MS70 ANACS 1 Ounce Silver Numismatic Coins
This one ounce .9999 pure silver coin features a stunningly detailed portrait of a lone time wolf surveying his domain.
This beautiful but t fierce predator is pictured standing on a snow covered slope with tall snow-capped pines in the background,
while the full moon overhead illuminates this distinctly Canadian scene.
The Canadian Timber Wolf is the first coin in a 3 year, 6 coin Canadian wildlife series. The Royal Canadian Mint's Ottawa facility is expected to introduce two annual issues through 2j014. Wolves are a popular theme, and as such, this coin was selected to be the lead-off coin in this very limited edition wildlife series. The Royal Canadian Mint has placed a strict and low mintage on these coins, and the next issue in this series is not expected to be released until March 2011.
Senior Mint Engraver William Woodruff is the creator of the wolf design on the reverse. The obverse displays the portrait of Queen Elizabeth ll, which was done by Canadian portrait artist Susanna Blunt. Struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver, this coin bears a face value of $5.00.

Important!
The Most Important Thing
As I mentioned above one should not confuse Numismatic Coins (especially those graded MS70) with regular bullion coins. I also feel that it is important to mention that past history does not dictate future performance. Although graded numismatic coins will always be worth something, their value will fall and rise according to market conditions. In closing, let me point out the years of personal satisfaction collecting and sharing these coins with friends and family will bring.

- Great lens jmina. I learned a lot about coins. I really was uneducated before reading your lens. And, I might add, in todays economic state, collecting gold and silver is a wise thing to do. I look forward to more info on this topic from you.
