Introduction to Invader Zim

Gir the robot appears on a show that used to air on Nickelodeon, called Invader Zim. It focuses on an alien race called the Irkens, whose social heiarchy, and how important you are, is totally dependent on height. Consequentially, the two Irken leaders, The Almighty Tallest, are exactly the same height. Zim, the main character, is an incompetent Irken invader bent on destroying the Earth. He was sent there because the Almighty Tallest ones hate him.

Zim is sent to Earth, with a few awesome gadgets, including a space ship and a machine that can make a house (don't ask), and of course, GIR.

GIR

But I need Tacos! I need them or I will explode! That happens to me sometimes!

GIR is a dysfunctional Irken SIR (Standard-issue Information Retrieval unit) given to Irken invaders. Of course, The Tallests gave him to Zim. His behavior is random, and usually spastical. GIR has shown intelligence, and the ability to comprehend what Zim says, but usually disobeyes, and does his own thing.

GIR was constructed from The Tallests garbage can contents. Which does explain his behavior. He's compulsive, and impulsive. His compulsions range from tacos, to burritos, to pigs, to evil monkeys.

He does have intelligence. It just takes a lot to get it out of him. Zim had to boost GIR's intelligence by at least ten to get GIR to focus and listen to him. But at that point, GIR was too intelligent, and turned on Zim. But as far as evil minions go, GIR does more bad then good, for Zim.
