Ranked #3,219 in Arts , #75,077 overall

This lens is created for the purpose of expression, discussion, and demonstration of Native American arts of the Pacific Northwest. These unique and beautiful pieces are expressed in both traditional and contemporary art forms and design. Many of the artists have a trademark style and medium. Others use several art styles and mediums, from wood carvings, to jewelry, clothing, paintings and art prints, literature, media production, and various other forms.

We look forward to interaction with artists and art collectors, historians and film makers, storytellers, cultural presenters and educators. We hope to help make connection between those who create art and those who want to buy, those who are keepers of the history and those who document historic events, those who share the culture and those who want to learn.

If you come within the range of any of the affore mentioned, please make yourself at home here, join in, and express your interests.  You may enjoy visiting some of our other lenses (mentioned at the sidebar of this lens).

Thank you very much for your time. Please come again.

What is the Measure of Success?

Give This Some Thought

"I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost more than 300 games. Twenty-six times I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life... And that is why I succeed."

~Former NBA player, Michael Jordan, considered by many to be the best basketball player of all time.

Every successful person's pathway is littered with failed attempts because success isn't about doing something brilliantly the first time or even being the very best the last time. More than anything else, success is about trying over and over and over again. It's about never giving up.

Nice lens, and glad to see you covering the story of the Maori in the Pacific Northwest. As a Pacific Northwest artist I was honored with being able to travel to New Zealand just this past March and spend time with some of the world's finest artists. What a trip! Thanks for sharing this lens!

Navajo Beauty Wins Miss New Mexico Title

GALLUP, New Mexico - Onawa Lacy achieved more than just a personal goal when she won the title of Miss New Mexico USA on Oct. 29.

Lacy also became the first Native American woman and the first Gallup woman to win that title. Lacy, 23, a 2000 graduate of Gallup High School, will now go on to compete in the Miss USA pageant in the spring.

In the spring of 2003, Lacy put Navajo women back on center stage when she competed against 33 other native women from the United States and Canada to capture the title of Miss Indian World 2003-2004 at the Gathering of Nations Pow Wow in Albuquerque.

The Beautiful Olympic Mountains

The Olympic Mountains in this photo are from the vantage point near Shelton, WA.

The Majestic Olympic Mountain Range lies across the Olympic Penninsula of Washington State, and can be see hundreds of miles away in Olympia and points north and east. Several areas of the Olympics are snow covered year round.

One could say that Washington State is blessed with Mountain peaks and Mountain Ranges. On a clear day a person can cast their gaze in almost any direction and see any number of mountains.
