Community Theater in Whatcom County, Washington

Northwest Washington Theatre Group is a non-profit, all volunteer community theater group in Whatcom County, Washington. We produce family friendly plays and musicals and invite anyone in the community to participate with us. Our aim is to be a teaching theatre group, thereby enriching lives while producing quality entertainment. Currently we do not have a permanent home and you may see us performing at Judson Hall in Lynden, Blaine High School, The Pioneer Museum in Lynden or the Mount Baker Theatre in Bellingham. Someday we hope to have a home and a permanent venue for classes, rehearsals, and performances.

We just finished our successful run of The Pajama Game. What fun! Keep an eye out for auditions for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, our spring musical.

The Quartet from The Music Man

NWTG Spring Musical, 2009

Look at what a great job our costumers do! Kudos to Rosie Carter and Patti Assink for all of their dedicated work . The planning begins months ahead of time and after the kickoff, the sewing and fitting begins. Thanks to Rosie and Patti our casts are well costumed!

The Wizard of Oz

Spring Musical 2010

The current production of the Northwest Washington Theatre Group is The Wizard of Oz. Miss Gultch threatens to destroy Toto, Dorothy Gale's little dog because he chases her cats. In the midst of this turmoil comes turmoil of a different sort. A huge twister picks up Dorothy's house before she can get to shelter and drops the house in Munchkinland in the land of Oz. Join the Northwest Washington Theatre Group for our rendition of this beloved classic.

Dancers from The Music Man

NWTG Spring Musical 2009

Hayley and Ryan practice a cute dance scene that takes place in the library. This production sparkled with the innovative choreography of our director, Kristi Thies. Her work also begins months ahead as she reads, plans and organizes. Kristi is organized and decisive and this helps things run smoothly.

Krazy Kamp

Fall Production 2007

Krazy Kamp was directed by Leah Masters, one of the founders of Northwest Washington Theatre Group. This production was all children, the oldest being my son Adam, who was 18 at the time. It was very funny and we joked that David Block's hair was its own character! Rumor has it that we will be welcoming Leah back in the fall to direct The Pajama Game!

How Will Your Donation Be Used?

An idea of the costs

The total cost usually runs around $30,000 for a single production. Some of the expenses include printing costs for the program, rental of rehearsal venue, rental of performance venues, fabric and notions for costumes, costume rental, royalties, advertising, and construction materials such as paint and lumber. Sometimes we must pay musicians if we have an orchestra. Everything else is done with volunteers. None of our board members are paid.
