Oakland Cemetery, Atlanta

The first Mayor of Atlanta is buried here as well as a number of pioneer settlers. Beautiful Oakland Cemetery is located on Memorial Drive. Its setting is fairytale-like, with blooming gardens, wrought-iron fences, walkways, statues, fancy mausoleums and burial chambers. It is a place where you can take a picnic lunch, and every child should step into the past to see the loving displays dedicated to families. Some wonderful photographs of the old tombstones are found here It is a delight to see who is buried under the branches and flora.
