Oasis - Champagne Supernova

'Champagne Supernova' is in my opinion the greatest Oasis song ever written. A brilliant piece of music with absolutely stunning lyrical content; 'Champagne Supernova' is a seven and a half minute track of pure excellence.

These are Oasis 'Champagne Supernova' lyrics, and below you'll also find a video to match the beauty of the song itself. My take on the track can be found below as I review the masterpiece that is 'Champagne Supernova'.

'Champagne Supernova'; perhaps one of the greatest songs ever written.

Oasis - Champagne Supernova Lyrics

How many special people change?
How many lives are living strange?
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannonball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the Sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky

Wake up the dawn and ask her why
A dreamer dreams she never dies
Wipe that tear away now from your eye
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannonball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

'Cause people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we live and die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

How many special people change?
How many lives are living strange?
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannonball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Some day you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova

'Cause people believe that they're
Gonna get away for the summer
But you and I, we live and die
The world's still spinning round
We don't know why
Why, why, why, why

How many special people change?
How many lives are living strange?
Where were you while we were getting high?
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high

Oasis Band Biography

1991 was the year that Oasis would form as a band, and to date the English rock band has sold more than 50 million records worldwide. 2008's 'Dig out Your Soul' was the band's seventh studio album, and followed on from 2005s 'Don't Believe the Truth'. Oasis acquired a new drummer in 2008 in the form of Robbie Williams drummer Chris Sharrock, the man playing his first live show for the band in August 2008. The following are the five present members of Oasis:

- Liam Gallagher (Lead Vocals)
- Noel Gallagher (Guitar, Vocals)
- Gem Archer (Guitar)
- Andy Bell (Bass)
- Chris Sharrock (Drums)

Influenced heavily by The Beatles, the band also cites The Rolling Stones, The Stone Roses, and The Who amongst it's influences. Oasis is a band influenced by artists of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, and the music therefore reflects this. Lacking confidence has never been too much of an issue with Oasis; you could in fact accuse the band of being a little over-confident and arrogant at times.

With The Beatles such a huge influence on the music of Oasis; it should come as no surprise then that at the height of the band's success in the 90s, Liam Gallagher echoed the words of John Lennon in suggesting that Oasis is "bigger than Jesus". Big brother Noel has also once suggested that Oasis is more important to young people than God, and I quote "I would hope we mean more to people than putting money in a church basket and saying 10 Hail Marys on a Sunday". Take the band's claims too seriously and you could get quite offended; take what the band says with a pinch of salt however, and it's actually quite funny really.

A few more years and the band will have been around for two whole decades; I'm confident that the band will indeed see in its 20th birthday, and before the mark of 20 years of Oasis in 2011 I'm confident we'll be hearing much more from Manchester's Oasis. Studio album number eight for release in 2011? Perhaps, or maybe we'll be hearing it even sooner.

Beautiful in every aspect and as close to perfect as you can possibly get; 'Champagne Supernova' is without doubt my favourite Oasis song of all time. There are quite a few Oasis tracks that I enjoy, I find 'Champagne Supernova' to be by far the band's best though, and over the years I've therefore listened to the track on many, many occasions.

Known for their arrogance and swagger; there was once a time when Oasis confidence was fully justified. Included as the final track on the 1995 album '(What's the Story) Morning Glory?', 'Champagne Supernova' consists of the finest seven and a half minutes of music you ever will hear. Never since has the band come anywhere close to replicating the brilliance of that 1995 album, and 'Champagne Supernova' is the best of a brilliant bunch.

Whilst Oasis music has seemingly got progressively worse throughout the years, the existence of 'Champagne Supernova' provides absolute proof that once upon a time Oasis was an excellent band producing phenomenal music.

Every time I hear 'Champagne Supernova' I smile, I sing along to every last word, and love every second of it. 'Champagne Supernova' is an absolute masterpiece, a track that Oasis will probably never better, and a piece of music I'm sure to be listening to for many more years to come.

Not only is 'Champagne Supernova' my favourite Oasis track, but perhaps even my favourite song of all time; that's how highly I rate this one, it's an absolute world beater.

I like the song - never tried a Champagne Supernova myself and don't intend to! I must admit this is the first time I've ever seen the video (I've only heard the song on the radio before) it's pretty cool - is Liam trying to channel John Lennon?
