Heart Healthy Oat Bread

Old-fashioned oat bread is both delicious and good for you. It is low in cholesterol and contains cholesterol lowering oatmeal so this easy to make bread is one that everyone should try. There are many ways to make oat bread and we've included recipes for the basic bread as well as some of the variations. Hope you enjoy making and eating this wonderful, healthy bread.

Oat Bread

Oat bread is our favorite homemade bread. It's great for breakfast, lunch, dinner or served with cheese or pesto or herb butter as an appetizer.

Healthy Bread

The benefits and high nutritional value of whole oats are well known in the battle against high cholesterol. High fiber diets also have many other health benefits. Our favorite Oat bread recipe includes the addition of nuts (we like walnuts) 15 minutes into the first cycle, which adds to the health benefits and the taste.

Using a Bread Machine

Read all the instructions in the owner's manual of your machine, because bread machines vary.

Add ingredients in the order specified for your machine. Ninety percent of the machines start with the water, but check to make sure.

For best results, make sure all ingredients are at room temperature unless specified otherwise.
