President Obama In White House
While celebrating his birthday in Chicago, President Obama told donors at a fundraiser "We knew the road ahead was going to be difficult, that the climb was going to be steep. I have to admit, I didn't know how steep the climb was going to be."
Looking to next year's re-election bid Obama said that in addition to rebuilding the economy, his agenda includes a revamped immigration law, development of new energy sources, tax changes -- and reducing budget deficits and the federal debt. Source USAToday

The Promise of the President
Is President Obama living up to your expectations?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYes, I think he is
Mia-Mia says:
With the problems he inherited, and the desire of congress (both parties) to be more concerned with being re-elected than with doing what is good for the country, he is doing all he can. Remember, just after the election, he told us it would take more than one term to turn this around, then things got worse before he even took office.

Ruthi says:
I'm saying "yes" but not necessarily for reasons one might expect. It is my feeling that Obama is probably doing the best he can with what he is faced with at present. Also, I do not hold one man responsible for the state of affairs in this country (nor would I give one man the credit if things were in better shape here). Living up to my expectations? I didn't expect him to do much more or less than he has done. Although, even though I did not vote for him, I did hold high hopes that our countrymen just might support him enough that just maybe he could head us in some right directions with that support. I'm not sure it would have made any difference. These are tough times all over the world, not just here in the USA.

"An important assessment of what ails America, and a must-read for policymakers."--Kirkus Reviews
"Best known for advising postcommunist and impoverished countries on development strategies, economist Sachs (Common Wealth) takes on the cesspool of debt, backwardness, and corruption that is the United States in this hard-hitting brief for a humane economy... a must-read for every concerned citizen."--Publishers Weekly, starred review

- One of my very favorite moments of a totally lovely day was the two of them at the Commander in Chief Ball. They danced and then they each danced with a soldier, her with a little guy. If I wasn't sold before on the goodness of these people, that would have sold me totally.
And of course he has done really well the first 3 and 1/2 days! ***** to you

I am definitely for Obama. I believe him to be serene in his convictions and see him as a leader who will be able to turn our country around. I have lensrolled this to my THE REPUBLICAN WAY lens, which is my short diatribe against the Republican party.

johndilbeck says:
I have never been affiliated with a political party and don't intend to join one. I'm not sure there exists a political party that would want me as a member!
That said, I'll be voting Democrat this year.
I don't believe Obama can deliver everything he is promising (like every other candidate), but I want to support him in what he can accomplish.
As part of the middle class that has taken some real hits over the last several years, I'm tired of the old, tired Republican policies and approaches and I'm ready for a change.
I think the war in Iraq was the biggest mistake made in the 21st century (so far) and I hope it will be ended quickly.
I hope the future President Obama can accomplish much of what he says he'll do.
Act on your dream!
