What The CDC Really Believes About The Statistics for Obesity!

Up until sometime in 2005, most Americans were constantly being told that Obesity was the second leading cause of preventable death in the United States. Obesity-related deaths, we were told, was responsible for over 365,000 American deaths each year. It was believable. After all, who would not believe the word of the CDC and other officials in the Health industry.

Besides, with constant nightly Cable TV news coverage, most people thought this information was indeed true. Besides, considering the huge weight loss industry that has sprung up over the last two decades, and the proliferation of fast and fatty foods, there was no reason not to believe these statistics. Then the big news came out!

In 2005, the website Red Orbit reported that;

Obesity Was No Longer The Second Leading Cause

of Preventable Death in the USA!

Is It Really Good news for overweight folks?

If you are over-weight, or know someone who is, this may sound like good news! But is it really? The truth is you need to find a way to burn fat and reduce your weight.

Childhood Obesity May Pose The Greatest Danger of All

An Estimated 40% of All Kids In the USA are Either Overweight or Obese

Let me digress from my story for a minute to talk about Childhood Obesity, because this is a real problem today.

When you calculate your BMI (Body Mass Index), many of us are either overweight or obese. Children however, face multiple dangers from obesity or overweight because of the following:

** Childhood obesity cause elevated Cholesterol levels leading to stroke and heart disease
** Childhood can cause liver disease
** Childhood obesity can cause diabetes and pre-disposition to diabetes
** Childhood obesity causes emotional and mental trauma

This is certainly not an exhaustive list. However, when you assess the risks to children posed by obesity, no wonder that people are literally afraid to broach the subject, much less to seek solutions. But it simply must be done.

Hiding our collective heads in the sand is not going to make obesity in our children go away. The truth is that our children can be healthier and so can we. The more educated we are about obesity, the more we can protect ourselves and our children from the effects of this problem.

International Fitness Celebrity, Kelli Calabrese declares about the creator of this system: "Brian has found a formula that works and has taken the guess work out for all of us who aspire to change the health and conditioning of today's youth. Brian is a leader and one of the foremost experts in children's fitness"

Obesity Statistics May Not Be All That Bad, But One Life Lost To Obesity is One Too Many

Let's get back to the story. (a true one by the way) Let's continue with this Masterful Announcement By The AMA. This announcement on obesity, as a leading cause of death came out of a study which was published by the American Medical Association. This weight loss industry study was released based on the analysis of mortality rates and body-mass index (BMI) of people who were reportedly overweight.

The new information released by this report stated in fact, that obesity was now ranked as the seventh most likely cause of preventable death, when stacked up against such culprits as motor vehicle accidents, plane crashes, and gunshot wounds. Now, I take it that this is supposed to be good news! I beg to differ.

I am not pessimistic, but I do have a point to make. Being severely overweight is classified as a preventable disease. I am not sure to what extent this is true, as there are people who will swear that they got their tendency for hugeness from their parents or some other person in their family line. Be that as it may, I think we can all agree that somewhere in the mix, the quality and quantity of what we eat play vital roles in any severe weight gain we may experience. To one degree or another, there is personal culpability here, and you and I can prevent or reduce severe weight gain by taking the right action.

The Truth About Obesity Is Not So Alarming, but Do You Want To Be A Statistic?

Severe Weight Gain Can Be Stopped...and Reversed.

Up to three months prior to the release of this study, common statistical reporting in the weight and fitness industry was that over 365,000 people were dying annually from obesity. This was the common mortality rate for adult obesity being quoted by the Centers for Disease Control which as it turns out was 14 times what was now being report as the true death rate from obesity; a rather minuscule 26,000 people per year.

The uncertainty of how this figure is calculated is a problem for the CDC, it seams. Dr. Julie Gerberding, its director was reluctant to accept it, and so was Dr. JoAnn Manson, of the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. The CDC, in the United States declares that the new information would not change much of what they do to fight obesity. The Center would not use the new figures, but would "they implied" continue to use the old figures.

When it comes to your health, don't rely on the statistics from an institution. Look at the evidence facing you, and decide for yourself what must be done to preserve your good health, lose weight, and live a happier life.

If You Must Lose Weight, The Best ime To Start is Now

Here's the Conclusion To This Story

Severe weight gain can increase your risk of dying prematurely from any number of related diseases. I believe we all need to have a good measure of weight to suit our frames, height, etc. The last thing I want to do is to promote an unhealthy attitude towards your health. It seems though, that as much as we welcome this news, even one death from overweight or obesity is one too many.

Though severe weight gain or excess fat is not my problem, it still leaves me with the annoying feeling that I have to get back on my treadmill and sweat a bit more. Ouch! But, look at the bright side. I am determined that not too long from now, I am going to wake up late every morning for two whole months, have a leisurely breakfast, go for walk or jog, and spend the rest of the day fooling around my wife. If a little sweat will help me do that, I am all for it. I certainly would like to be around to enjoy those days! Wouldn't you?
